The pulse of epilepsy (epilepsy) presents as floating, surging, large, and long, or slippery, large, firm, and rapid. Phlegm accumulation in the Heart causing mania resembling epilepsy is often caused by fright. Fright causes the Shen (Spirit) to fail to reside in its dwelling; when the dwelling is empty, phlegm gathers. For fright wind and epilepsy, emesis (vomiting therapy) is suitable. Generally, the treatment focuses on resolving phlegm, using Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Nanting (Arisaematis Rhizoma), Gualou (Trichosanthis Fructus), and Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma). One must investigate the fire pathogen and phlegm, distinguishing their proportions for treatment, ensuring recovery without exception. In cases with heat, cool-natured herbs are used to clear the Heart. When phlegm is present, emetic herbs are mandatory; after emesis, Dongyuan Anshen Wan (Anshen Pill of Li Dongyuan) and Danggui Longhui Wan (Longhui Pill with Angelica) are appropriate to take.
For sudden onset of wind-phlegm, where Qi obstruction leads to fainting and collapse:
Powdered Kudingxiang (Caryophylli Flos), three qian, mixed with a measure of Qingfen (Calomelas) equivalent to one grain of sand, combined with half he of water, stirred and administered orally. After a while, wind-phlegm will discharge naturally. If it does not discharge, holding rock sugar in the mouth will induce spontaneous discharge.
For treating wind-epilepsy:
Nanting (Arisaematis Rhizoma) subjected to nine steaming and nine sun-drying cycles, then powdered. Formed into pills using ginger juice paste. Take twenty pills per dose, decocted with Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Shichangpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma), and Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix) for administration.

Quanxie (Scorpio, detoxified and stir-fried, two qian); Zaojiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus, four liang, crushed, boiled with half sheng of water and Baifan until dry); Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, soaked in boiling water seven times, two liang); Nanting (Arisaematis Rhizoma, processed, one liang); Wushe (Zaocys, soaked in wine overnight, bones removed, dried); Baifuzi (Typhonii Rhizoma, processed, half liang); Xionghuang (Realgar, one qian, separately ground); Baifan (Alumen, one liang); Wugong (Scolopendra, half strip, head and feet removed, dried); Zhusha (Cinnabar, one and a half qian, separately ground); Shexiang (Moschus, three qian, separately ground); Baijiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus, one and a half liang, stir-fried, silk and mouth parts removed).
Grind all ingredients into powder. Use ginger juice paste to form pills the size of wutong seeds. Take thirty pills per dose, washed down with ginger soup.
