If a Ding sore (a type of acute, toxic skin infection) has just appeared, with no color change and insensitivity to pain, immovable upon pressing or shaking, embedded at the apex, accompanied by chills and fever, it is this type of sore. For various types of Ding sores such as Qi Ding, Water-Fire Ding, Snake-Eye Ding, Stone Ding, Male-Female Ding, Rotting Ding, Blood Ding, Axe Ding, Red Thread Ding, Fish-Eye Ding, Purple Inkstone Ding, and Hemp-Seed Ding, urgently apply the "Quan Huang" medicine. Take one gallbladder from a male pig in the twelfth lunar month, add Realgar (Xionghuang), Jingmo (Beijing ink), and powdered ginger juice, mix them inside the gallbladder, and use this medicine to paint around the sore. This will prevent the toxin from spreading systemically (Zouhuang). For newly erupted Ding sores, prick once at the top, stopping when reaching the painful area; bleeding is not harmful. Then insert Xianchan Baidu Dan (Immortal Toad Antidote Pill) into the sore opening, immediately cover with Shuichen Gao (Water-Sinking Ointment); Shenyin Gao (Divine Response Ointment) is also acceptable. When the yellow toxin discharges, stop when the sore becomes red and swollen. If there is swelling around the perimeter, use a needle to drain toxic blood and yellow fluid. In cases of Zouhuang (systemic spread of toxin), observe where the blood vessel extends, and sever that blood vessel with a fire-needle to immediately halt the spread. Observe where the initial yellow toxin has migrated and formed a lump; this is the location of the toxin. Prick the area of the yellow toxin 30 to 50 times, wait for blood and toxic vapors to emerge, then immediately apply Fuhuang medicine to draw out the toxins. If the yellow toxin wanders erratically, moving from left to right or right to left, it is difficult to treat and likely fatal. If no blood flows when pricking the sore or the yellow toxin, or if the blood is purple-black, it is also difficult to treat and likely fatal. Do not use iron needles to extract the yellow toxin; use only gold, silver, or copper needles. At the initial onset, urgently administer Zhuiting Duoming Tang (Pursue Ding Life-Seizing Decoction) to resolve it internally with immediate effect; Feilong Duoming Dan (Flying Dragon Life-Seizing Pill) is also acceptable, followed by Huadu Xiaodu Tuoli San (Resolve Toxin, Eliminate Poison, Support Interior Powder). Administration of these medicines should be continued until profuse sweating occurs.
To process fresh toads, wrap their supraorbital ridges in oil paper or yellow mulberry leaves by hand; Chan Su (Toad Venom) will appear. Scrape it off the paper or leaf using the green part of a bamboo splinter, then insert the splinter into a shaded place. After one night, the venom will naturally dry; collect and store it for use.
Extracting the yellow toxin removes the head of the Ding sore, with immediate effect in pursuing pus and toxins.
Chan Su (Toad Venom) (1 qian, dried and dissolved in aged wine) Wugong (Centipede) (soaked in wine, roasted until yellow) Sha (Cinnabar? *Note: Text says 'Sha', likely refers to Zhu Sha/Cinnabar or similar mineral, but listed separately from Zhusha later. Context suggests a mineral ingredient*) (1 qian) Baixiangding (White Stinkhorn Dung) (1 qian; if unavailable, substitute with Badou) Badou (Croton Seed) (7 grains, shelled but oil retained) Xionghuang (Realgar) (2 qian) Qingfen (Calomel) (1 qian) Zhusha (Cinnabar) (2 qian, used as coating; if unavailable, Huangdan [Lead Tetroxide] is acceptable)
Grind all into fine powder, mix with wheat flour paste and water to form pills. If they do not hold shape, use wine-dissolved flour paste to form pills the size of wheat grains, pointed at both ends. Insert into the punctured wound, cover with Shuichen Gao, and subsequently use plaster and flesh-regenerating medicines to force out pus, blood, and toxic matter. Additionally, for black, sunken, leaking sores where surrounding necrotic tissue remains and new flesh does not grow, it is incurable; however, this medicine can still be used to pursue toxins, remove dead muscle and necrotic tissue, and promote new flesh growth for healing. Use one pill for small sores, increase dosage for larger ones. For mild conditions, acupuncture is unnecessary; simply scratch the top of the sore with fingernails, apply this medicine with Shuichen Gao, and continue until the sore becomes red and swollen. Removing necrotic tissue is ideal; its efficacy is divine and immediate.
