**Xiaoyao Tang (Free and Easy Wanderer Decoction)** Treats patients who had Shanghan (Cold Damage), where Qi and Blood were not yet balanced after recovery, labor aggravated heat returning to the meridians. Relapse due to sexual intercourse is called Laofu (Relapse due to Exertion). Getting sick due to sexual intercourse while previously healthy is called Yinyang Yi (Yin-Yang Exchange). I have seen many die with tongues extending several inches. This condition is hardest to treat; this formula is essential.
Ginseng Root (Renshen, 人参), Anemarrhena Rhizome (Zhimu, 知母), Bamboo Green (Zhuqing, 竹青 - increase dose if testicular retraction and abdominal pain occur), Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian, 黄连), Licorice Root (Gancao, 甘草), Talcum (Huashi, 滑石), Prepared Rehmannia Root (Sheng Dihuang, 生地黄), Chinese Leek Root (JiuGen, 韭根), Bupleurum Root (Chaihu, 柴胡), Rhinoceros Horn (Xijiao, 犀角).

Apply the "Chui" method: before administration, mix in one qian half of powdered burnt underwear (Shao Dangdangmo, 烧裆末) and take. Efficacy is indicated by sticky sweat; if not sticky, take again. Cure is confirmed by smooth urination and reduction of penile swelling.
**Shengyang Sanhuo Tang (Raise Yang Scatter Fire Decoction)** Treats patients crossing hands over the chest, groping at clothes and bedsides, delirious, lethargic, and unconscious. Quack doctors mistake this for Wind Syndrome and use wind-dispelling herbs, causing many deaths. Unknowingly, Liver Heat attacks Lung Metal, and deficient Yuan Qi cannot govern, named Cuokong Zheng (Grasping at Empty Air Syndrome). If urine flows freely, it is treatable; if not, it is untreatable.
Ginseng Root (Renshen, 人参), Angelica Sinensis (Danggui, 当归), Bupleurum Root (Chaihu, 柴胡), Peony Root (Shaoyao, 芍药), Scutellaria Root (Huangqin, 黄芩), Licorice Root (Gancao, 甘草), Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Baizhu, 白术), Ophiopogon Tuber (Mendong, 麦门冬), Tangerine Peel (Chenpi, 陈皮), Spirit Poria (Fushen, 茯神).

**Zaizao San (Recreate Again Powder)** Treats headache, fever, stiff neck and spine, aversion to cold, and anhidrosis despite two or three doses of diaphoretic herbs. Quack doctors ignore the season, use heavy Ephedra (Mahuang) or fire-cupping to induce sweat, causing many deaths. Unknowingly, this is Yang deficiency unable to produce sweat, named Wuyang Zheng (No-Yang Syndrome).
Astragalus Root (Huangqi, 黄芪), Ginseng Root (Renshen, 人参), Cinnamon Twig (Guizhi, 桂枝), Licorice Root (Gancao, 甘草), Prepared Aconite Root (Shu Fu, 熟附), Asarum Root (Xixin, 细辛), Notopterygium Rhizome (Qianghuo, 羌活), Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng, 防风), Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome (Chuanxiong, 川芎), Roasted Ginger (Weishengjiang, 煨生姜).
In summer, add Scutellaria Root (Huangqin, 黄芩) and Gypsum (Shigao, 石膏); in winter, do not add.
Decoct two bowls of water with two jujubes until one bowl remains. Apply the "Chui" method: add a pinch of stir-fried Peony Root (Cha Shaoyao, 炒芍药), boil three times, and take warm.
**Huanglong Tang (Yellow Dragon Decoction)** Treats hardness and pain in the epigastrium, purging of clear water, delirium, thirst, and body heat. Quack doctors see purging and call it Loudi Shanghan (Leaky Bottom Cold Damage), using hot herbs to stop it, like adding firewood to save a fire, causing many deaths. Unknowingly, this is Heat Pathogen transmitting inward, forming dry feces in the Stomach. This purging is not due to Interior Cold but results from daily intake of herbal decoctions. It requires urgent purging, named Jiere Li Zheng (Knotted Heat Purging Syndrome). Use this formula if there is body heat; use Liuyi Shunqi Tang (Six Yi Smooth Qi Decoction) if there is no heat.
Rhubarb (Dahuang, 大黄), Mirabilite (Mangxiao, 芒硝), Aurantium Fructus Immaturus (Zhishi, 枳实), Magnolia Bark (Nongpu, 浓朴), Licorice Root (Gancao, 甘草), Ginseng Root (Renshen, 人参), Angelica Sinensis (Danggui, 当归).
For elderly with deficient Qi and Blood, remove Mirabilite.
Decoct two bowls of water with three slices of ginger and two jujubes. Afterwards, add Platycodon Root (Jiegeng, 桔梗), boil once, and take hot.
**Tiaorong Yangwei Tang (Regulate Blood Nourish Defense Decoction)** (Also known as Buzhong Yiqi Tang). Treats headache, body heat with aversion to cold, slight thirst, continuous sweating, body pain, sore and weak legs, heaviness, fatigue, and empty, floating, weak pulse. Quack doctors mistake this for Zheng Shanghan (True Cold Damage) due to headache and aversion to cold/heat, inducing heavy sweating, turning mild cases severe and harming people. Unknowingly, this is internal injury from labor damaging Qi and Blood, combined with external Cold Pathogen. Mild pungent-sweet-warm formulas cure it, named Laoli Ganhan Zheng (Labor-Induced Cold Sensation Syndrome). Thus, the Classic says: "For exhaustion, warm it; for deficiency, warm it." Warmth removes great heat, which is what this means. For downward syndromes, Da Chaihu Tang (Major Bupleurum Decoction) purges to relieve.
Ginseng Root (Renshen, 人参), Astragalus Root (Huangqi, 黄芪), Angelica Sinensis (Danggui, 当归), Prepared Rehmannia Root (Sheng Dihuang, 生地黄), Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome (Chuanxiong, 川芎), Bupleurum Root (Chaihu, 柴胡), Tangerine Peel (Chenpi, 陈皮), Licorice Root (Gancao, 甘草), Asarum Root (Xixin, 细辛), Notopterygium Rhizome (Qianghuo, 羌活), Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng, 防风), Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Baizhu, 白术).
For insufficient Yuan Qi, add a little Cimicifuga Rhizome (Shengma, 升麻); note that for insufficient Yuan Qi, seek rising from the deepest Yin. For thirst, add Trichosanthes Root (Tianhuafen, 天花粉) and Anemarrhena Rhizome (Zhimu, 知母). For wheezing and cough, add Apricot Seed (Xingren, 杏仁) and remove Cimicifuga Rhizome (Shengma, 升麻). For persistent sweating, add Peony Root (Shaoyao, 芍药) and remove Cimicifuga Rhizome (Shengma, 升麻) and Asarum Root (Xixin, 细辛). For chest irritability, add Gardenia Fruit (Shanzhi, 山栀) and Bamboo Shavings (Zhuru, 竹茹). For dry heaving, add Pinellia Tuber (Banxia, 半夏) stir-fried with ginger juice. For chest fullness, add Aurantium Fructus (Zhike, 枳壳) and Platycodon Root (Jiegeng, 桔梗), removing Prepared Rehmannia, Licorice, Astragalus, and Atractylodes slightly.
