Shengjiang (Radix Zingiberis Preparata, one tael) Fuzi (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata, one piece, used raw, skin removed, broken into eight pieces)
The above two herbs. Boil with three sheng of water. Decoct to obtain one sheng. Remove the dregs and take in a single dose.
After undergoing purgation, sweating was induced again. During the day, there is restlessness and inability to sleep; at night, it is quiet. There is no vomiting, no thirst, and no exterior syndrome. The pulse is deep and faint. The body has no significant heat.
Ganjiang Fuzi Tang (Dried Ginger and Aconite Decoction) is indicated. Note: After purgation, Yin pathogen becomes excessive while Yang Qi is already deficient. Inducing sweating again disperses the remaining Yang, causing deficient Yang to become chaotic, hence the daytime restlessness and insomnia. Nighttime quietness is not an auspicious sign. It merely occurs because pure Yin dominates at night, and the weakened Yang lacks the strength to cause agitation. This formula omits Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Uralensis), making it more potent than Sini Tang (Four Reversal Decoction). Its purpose is to directly break through Yin cold and restore Yang Qi. One must carefully verify the absence of vomiting, thirst, or exterior syndrome, along with a deep, faint pulse and no significant body heat. Only then can the restlessness be confirmed as caused by chaotic deficient Yang, allowing for the safe use of this formula without error.
Solitary Yin self-regulates within the Yin aspect; solitary Yang agitates within the Yang aspect. Therefore, Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) and Fu (Aconiti Radix) are used to assist Yang Qi to harmonize with Yin.
Ganjiang Fuzi Tang (Dried Ginger and Aconite Decoction) original formula. Add four stems of Congbai (Scallion White). Decoct and administer as previously described.
Shaoyin disease (Lesser Yin Disease) with diarrhea is treated with Baitong Tang (White Passage Decoction). Note: In Shaoyin diarrhea, the True Yang of the Kidney is on the verge of exhaustion due to the loss of fluids. Therefore, Jiang and Fu are used to warm the Kidney, while Congbai is added to raise the sinking True Yang.
Baitong Tang (White Passage Decoction) original formula. Add five he of Renao (Human Urine) and one he of Zhuchidan (Porcine Bile). Boil with three sheng of water. Decoct to obtain one sheng. Remove the dregs. Mix in the Zhuchidan and Renao until well combined. Divide into two doses and take warm.
In Shaoyin disease with diarrhea and a faint pulse, administer Baitong Tang (White Passage Decoction). If diarrhea persists, accompanied by cold extremities, absence of pulse, dry retching, and irritability, Baitong Jia Zhuchidan Tang (White Passage Decoction plus Porcine Bile) is indicated.
Note: For Shaoyin diarrhea, using Baitong Tang is pharmacologically correct. However, if Yin pathogen is excessively severe, it may reject the acrid-hot herbs due to incompatibility (Ge Ju). Therefore, Renao and Zhuchidan are added as guides, following the same principle as Tongmai Sini Jia Zhuchidan Tang (Pulse-Returning Four Reversal Decoction plus Porcine Bile). If the pulse suddenly emerges violently after taking the decoction, it indicates that the medicinal force has forced the Yang Qi to leak out completely, which still predicts death. If the pulse gradually returns, it signifies the gradual recovery of Zheng Qi (Upright Qi), indicating survival.
