This decoction is similar in syndrome treatment and formula composition to Guizhi Er Yuebi Yi Tang (Cinnamon Twig Twice and Pueraria-Shell Decoction One). However, that syndrome involves inability to produce slight sweating, resulting in facial heat and body itching. Therefore, the dosage of Guizhi Tang (Cinnamon Twig Decoction) is reduced, and Ephedrae Herba (Mahuang, 麻黄) and Apricot Seed (Xingren, 杏仁) are added. This syndrome involves stomach heat and fluid depletion preventing sweating. Therefore, the dosage of Da Qinglong Tang (Major Green Dragon Decoction) is reduced, Apricot Seed (Xingren, 杏仁) is removed, and Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao, 石膏) is added. Since Apricot Seed (Xingren, 杏仁) directs qi downward and moves outward, it is unsuitable for those with fluid depletion. Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao, 石膏) is pungent and cool, transforming heat, which is precisely what is favored by those with stomach heat.
