If the injury is located in the stomach and intestines, this is where the qi of wine reaches; if the injury penetrates to the bone marrow, even a master physician (Siming) can do nothing about it. Moreover, the vertex (Dingxin), fontanelle (Ximen), frontal skull (Eluan), frontotemporal region (Ejiao), back of the head, occipital bone (Chengzhen), cervical spine (Jinggu), laryngeal prominence (Jiehous), sternum (Xionggu), epigastrium (Xinkan), Xuepen (a critical point on the face/throat), dorsal spine (Jibei), spinal column (Jilü), lumbar eyes (Yaoyan), and pelvic bones (Fanggu) all belong to vital bones. Once injured, life and death are decided in an instant. If other bones are fractured, they should be treated according to the reduction methods described in the previous volume. If one is in a remote area and no physician is available in haste, one may select various formulas from the subsequent collection for treatment, thereby avoiding sequelae such as disability caused by blood stasis and qi leakage.
Formula for Painless Bone Setting: Wang Ji used wine to grind the root of *Jasminum sambac* (Moli Gen). Ingestion of one cun causes unconsciousness for one day before waking; two cuns cause unconsciousness for two days; three cuns cause unconsciousness for three days. For any traumatic injury involving joint dislocation requiring bone setting, this formula renders the patient insensible to pain.
Cangqi's Formula for Welding Bones with Copper Powder: Finely grind red copper filings and administer with wine, so that the medicinal power directly enters the injured site.
