The fontanel bone refers to the soft, pulsating area on the vertex of an infant's head where the cranial bones have not yet fused, known as the fontanel. If injured by falls or blows, although the suture may separate, if the brain marrow is not shaken or damaged, the patient should sit upright. Apply Ding Tong San (Pain-Relieving Powder) mixed with scallion juice to the injury site. Cover the medicine with coarse paper soaked in vinegar, then apply a heated iron ironing tool onto the paper until the injury site feels hot and painful, and sounds are heard from the mouth. Remove the medicine and apply Wan Ling Gao (Ten Thousand Spirits Ointment), changing it every two to three days. Wash the area with He Shang Tang (Harmonizing Injury Decoction); the swelling will naturally subside and pain cease. If the skin is broken and bleeding persists, seal the wound with hemostatic cotton and administer He Ying Yang Wei Tang (Nourishing Ying and Wei Decoction). If ulceration occurs with pus discharge, wash away previous medicines with Gan Cong Jian (Sweet Scallion Decoction), sprinkle Sheng Ji San (Flesh-Generating Powder), and apply Yu Hong Gao (Jade Red Ointment). Avoid wind and cold, and refrain from consuming stimulating foods and strong alcohol. If the skin is broken with unceasing blood flow, bones are depressed, and tendons are everted, the brain marrow must be damaged; if breath is faint and silent, the condition is critical and difficult to treat. If tetanus (Po Shang Feng / Broken Wind) develops, treat according to the methods for wind-injury described earlier. Shan Jiao Gu (Mountain Corner Bone) refers to the ridged bones on both sides of the top of the head. Ling Yun Gu (Reaching Clouds Bone) is located below the anterior hairline, referring to the central frontal bone, i.e., the forehead. Zuo You Tian Xian Gu (Left and Right Heavenly Sage Bones) refer to the two frontal angles. Jing Ming Gu (Bright Eye Bone) refers to the orbital bones surrounding the eye socket. Below Mei Leng Gu (Eyebrow Ridge Bone) lies another bone structure connecting downward to the upper alveolar ridge. Injuries to these areas should be treated using the same methods as for fontanel injuries. However, clinical judgment and the subtle application of medicines depend entirely on the practitioner's skill and insight.

Injuries to the nasal bridge bone, extending down to Zhun Tou (the nose tip), resulting in bleeding, are treatable. Externally apply Zhi Xue Ding Tong San (Hemostatic Pain-Relieving Powder) and internally administer Jie Gu Zi Jin Dan (Bone-Connecting Purple Gold Pill). If the injury causes open wounds or the nose is fractured and displaced, use reduction techniques and apply medicinal plasters. If the bone is shattered, the inner membrane is perforated, and blood flows from the mouth and nose, the condition is untreatable. Zhong Xue Tang (Middle Blood Hall) refers to the hollow cartilaginous area inside the lower nose. Injury here causes unceasing bleeding. If consciousness is lost, insert Sai Bi Dan (Nose-Stopping Pill) into the nostrils and pour cold water over the head. For patients with Qi deficiency, closed eyes, and sallow complexion, death will occur within eight days. If Jing Ming Gu is injured and the eyeball prolapses, first apply Shou Zhu San (Pearl-Receiving Powder) using a silver needle dipped in well water to dab the medicine onto the eyeball and affected blood vessels. Secure with old silk cloth moistened with warm water, administer Huan Jing Tang (Restoring Vision Decoction) for two to three doses, followed by Ming Mu Di Huang Tang (Brighten Eyes Rehmannia Decoction) for conditioning, which will lead to recovery.
