Those with abdominal rupture and evisceration (prolapse of intestines) should have the intestines immediately reduced into the abdominal cavity, sutured with hemp thread, and externally applied with Huarui Shi San (Flower Porphyry Stone Powder). If adipose tissue has protruded, it must be quickly removed by hand and then sutured; if protruded intestines are forcibly pushed back in, internal ulceration will occur, endangering life. If the protruded intestines are dry, they should be washed moist with the juice from boiled barley porridge and then reduced, while occasionally drinking a small amount of mashed rice porridge. Only after twenty days can thin porridge be consumed, and recovery is expected after one hundred days. Do not allow the child to be startled, as startling may lead to death. (Using mulberry bark thread is especially good.)
A child fell while holding a bowl, resulting in abdominal rupture and evisceration. The intestines were immediately reduced, sutured with hemp thread, and Huarui Shi San was applied externally, leading to recovery.
A child was playing with a knife, fell to the ground, and the knife penetrated the abdomen, causing both intestines and feces to protrude. This case was incurable. (Because the intestine was ruptured, it was incurable.)
A child suffered an abdominal injury, presenting with fever, vomiting, and pain. Both internal and external treatments used analgesic and heat-clearing agents. Symptoms worsened in the late afternoon. I reasoned that this indicated further deficiency of Qi and Blood in the Spleen Meridian. In the morning, Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) was administered to tonify Qi and raise Yang; in the evening, Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) plus Ren Shen (Ginseng), Bai Zhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome), and Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis Root) were used to nourish Blood and strengthen the Spleen. Various symptoms gradually improved, and finally, Tuoli San (Support the Interior Powder) was used, allowing the wound to heal spontaneously.
A child suffered a rib injury resulting in an ulcer with clear pus that failed to heal, accompanied by alternating chills and fever, and thirst. In the morning, Buzhong Yiqi Tang was used to cultivate and benefit Spleen Qi; in the evening, Liuwei Dihuang Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia) was used to nourish Liver Blood. Symptoms gradually improved. Subsequently, Tuoli San and Yigong San (Yi Gong Powder) were used, leading to spontaneous muscle growth.
A child suffered an abdominal injury with bleeding, presenting with fever and irritability. Danggui Buxue Tang (Dang Gui Tonifies the Blood Decoction) was first administered to stabilize the condition, followed by Shengyu Tang (Sheng Yu Decoction), after which the affected area healed instantly. Finally, Tuoli San and Bazhen Tang (Eight Treasures Decoction) were used for complete recovery.

For those with scrotal skin rupture, bleeding, and pain, apply Danggui Gao (Angelica Ointment). For initial injuries with bleeding, do not stop the bleeding abruptly; otherwise, blood stasis inside will lead to suppuration. Or, if the wound is originally small, incomplete drainage of blood may cause internal ulceration, even exposing the testicles. Or if the entire scrotum is ulcerated, internally administer support-the-interior agents and externally apply Danggui Gao, and the scrotum will regenerate naturally. Cases of external trauma with rotting ulcers, and internal injuries with blood stasis leading to suppuration, are all treated according to the methods for Nang Yong (Scrotal Abscess). Only cases where the testicles are shattered are incurable.
A child injured his penis, presenting with bleeding, pain, chills, fever, convulsions, teeth grinding, sudden dizziness/fainting, twitching of lips and mouth, and intermittent coldness of hands and feet. It was desired to use medicines for treating wind-stroke (tetanus). I reasoned: Among various bleeding syndromes, the Liver Meridian governs them; among symptoms involving lip movement, it is Liver Wood insulting Spleen Earth. Thus, Yigong San plus Sheng Ma (Cimicifuga Rhizome), Chai Hu (Bupleurum Root), and Tian Ma (Gastrodia Rhizome) was used, leading to immediate recovery.
A child suffered an injury to the scrotum, with swelling, pain, morning chills, and evening fever, along with poor appetite. I reasoned that this was a syndrome of re-injury to the Spleen and Stomach, and treatment should involve Ren Shen, Bai Zhu, Dang Gui, etc. The family did not believe this and used heat-clearing drugs instead. Consequently, diarrhea and nausea occurred, along with coldness of hands and feet. I first used Liujun Zi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction) plus Chai Hu and Sheng Ma, leading to gradual improvement, and then used Yigong San plus Chai Hu and Sheng Ma for complete recovery.
A child fell while holding a bowl and accidentally injured his scrotum, with testicles exposed and continuous bleeding, accompanied by chills, fever, and intermittent convulsions. This was due to Liver Blood deficiency causing hyperactive fire. Immediately, Danggui Gao was applied, and Chaihu Qinggan San (Bupleurum Clears the Liver Decoction) plus Shu Di Huang (Prepared Rehmannia Root), Huang Qi (Astragalus Root), and Liuwei Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill) were administered, leading to recovery.
A child's scrotum was punctured by a bamboo splinter, causing significant bleeding, abdominal pain, convulsions, teeth grinding, and salivation for seven days. The Qi Kou pulse was two to three times larger than the Ren Ying pulse. This was due to fright and food stagnation. Wind-dispelling drugs must be strictly avoided. I used Wuwei Yigong San (Five-Ingredient Yi Gong Powder) plus Chai Hu and Gou Teng (Uncaria Rhynchophylla Hook) to stabilize the condition. Generally, for traumatic injuries in children, there are often concurrent fright and food stagnation. With food stagnation, the Qi Kou pulse is larger than the Ren Ying pulse, or symptoms such as vomiting, acid regurgitation, abdominal pain, and foul diarrhea occur. With fright, the Left Guan pulse is wiry, surging, yet soft, or symptoms such as sudden dizziness, teeth grinding, staring eyes, and neck stiffness occur. If left untreated for a long time, developing into tetanus (Po Shang Feng Disease), disaster strikes within moments.
A child's penis was severed but remained connected by skin, presenting with chills, fever, pain, and continuous bleeding. I reasoned that the severed part should be immediately excised, and the Liver and Kidney meridians should be regulated and tonified, so that heat would subside and pain would cease. Thus, Buzhong Yiqi Tang plus Mai Men Dong (Ophiopogon Tuber) and Wu Wei Zi (Schisandra Fruit) was used, leading to recovery.
A boy fell, breaking the skin of the lower abdomen. After taking blood-breaking agents, the scrotum became swollen, painful, and febrile. Palpation of the abdomen revealed no pain. I reasoned that blood-nourishing drugs should be used. The family did not believe this, and the condition ultimately proved fatal.
Buzhong Yiqi Tang treats conditions such as falls and blows that damage Yuan Qi (Original Qi), or excessive use of purgative/attacking drugs, resulting in aversion to cold, fever, and limb fatigue; or post-ulceration weakness of Qi and Blood failing to generate flesh and close wounds; or concurrent dietary and labor overexertion causing headache, body heat, irritability, thirst, and a洪大 (surging-large) wiry-empty pulse; or a subtle, fine, soggy, weak pulse, spontaneous sweating, and poor appetite. It is especially a sacred medicine for deficiency and wasting of ulcerative diseases. (See formula under "Muscle Does Not Grow")
