Brain bone injury: Use gentle manipulation to realign the bone, and trim the surrounding hair. If the skin is intact, apply Heilong San (Black Dragon Powder) or employ Cong Yi Fa (Scallion Moxibustion Method). If the skin is broken, fill the wound with Rushi San (Milk Stone Powder), and wrap it securely with silk gauze. Avoid exposure to wind and water. It is advisable to frequently apply hot compresses made of crushed scallions stir-fried until hot to the affected area.
A child suffered a head injury with excessive bleeding, presenting with fever, irritability, muscle twitching, and tendon tremors, resembling Wind Syndrome (Zheng Feng, 中风). Treatment was initially considered for Wind Syndrome. I stated: "There is no external Wind pathogen to dispel, and there is no sweat to induce; the method should be to vigorously tonify the Blood." Two doses of Shengyu Tang (Holy Recovery Decoction) stabilized the condition, followed by blood-nourishing formulas for full recovery.
A child suffered head injury with swelling, pain, and bleeding. External application of Huarui Shi San (Flower Porphyry Stone Powder) and internal administration of Bazhen Tang (Eight Treasures Decoction) stabilized the condition. Later, when the scab was removed, approximately one bowl of blood was lost, accompanied by convulsions of the hands and feet, alternating chills and fever, and abundant phlegm. This indicated Blood deficiency combined with fright, with Liver Fire stirring internally generating Wind. Administration of Dihuang Wan (Rehmannia Pill) and Jiawei Xiaoyao San (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) led to recovery.
A child suffered an injury to the tibia with bleeding, swelling, and pain, chills, poor appetite, and nocturnal convulsions. First, Yigong San (Yi Gong Powder) was used, leading to gradual improvement in diet. Then, Xiaoyao San (Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) stopped the convulsions immediately. Finally, Guipi Tang (Restore the Spleen Decoction) was administered to both mother and child, resulting in recovery.
A child suffered an injury, presenting with convulsions of the hands and feet, sudden dizziness, teeth grinding, and loss of appetite. This was attributed to Liver Blood deficiency, with Fire stirring and generating Wind, insulting the Spleen Earth. Dihuang Wan (Rehmannia Pill) and Yigong San (Yi Gong Powder) gradually reduced the symptoms. Subsequently, Bazhen Tang (Eight Treasures Decoction) and Tuoli San (Support the Interior Powder) promoted healing of the wound.
A child suffered an injury, presenting with a cyan complexion, reluctance to eat, and intermittent abdominal pain that did not worsen upon palpation. I diagnosed this as internal damage to Spleen Qi. The family disagreed and mistakenly administered blood-invigorating drugs, resulting in vomiting, diarrhea, cold limbs. I first treated with Liujun Zi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction) added with Chai Hu (Bupleurum Root), Sheng Ma (Cimicifuga Rhizome), and Sheng Jiang (Fresh Ginger), followed by Tuoli San (Support the Interior Powder) and Yigong San (Yi Gong Powder) for recovery.
A child suffered an injury near the ear on the side of the head, with alternating chills and fever and pain. After ulceration, the wound failed to heal despite strict use of pain-relieving and heat-clearing agents. I stated: "Alternating chills and fever and pain are due to deficiency of Qi and Blood in the Liver Meridian; failure to regenerate flesh after ulceration is due to deficiency of Qi and Blood in the Spleen Meridian." Dihuang Wan (Rehmannia Pill) and Yigong San (Yi Gong Powder) added with Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis) and Bai Shao (White Peony Root) gradually improved the symptoms, and Tuoli San (Support the Interior Powder) promoted closure.
Qianfu's Huarui Shi San (Flower Porphyry Stone Powder) treats all injuries caused by metal blades, arrowheads, blows, or falls, even applying it urgently to the wounds of the deceased. If blood enters the Zang organs causing obstruction of urination and defecation, decoct with Child's Urine (Tong Bian, 童便) and water, add a little wine, mix, and take orally for immediate effect. If the abdomen is ruptured and intestines protrude, they should be promptly returned and sutured using Mulberry White Bark (Sang Bai Pi, 桑白皮) as thread, and applied around the wound. If the wound dries, moisten it with saliva.
Sulfur (4 liang, pure and clear) Huarui Shi (1 jin)
Grind into fine powder, mix well, place in a clay pot, seal tightly with mud mixed with paper fibers. Once dry, gradually increase heat until red-hot. Leave overnight, then remove and grind finely. Store in a porcelain vessel.
Jiawei Xiaoyao San (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) treats Blood deficiency from injuries, internal heat and fever, generalized itching with chills and fever; limb pain, heavy head and eyes; palpitations, flushed cheeks, dry mouth and throat; fever with night sweats, poor appetite and insomnia; sores in mouth and tongue, ear pain; chest and breast distension, difficult urination. (Formula see Fever Unceasing)
Shengyu Tang (Holy Recovery Decoction) treats contusion wounds, metallic wounds, carbuncles and sores with excessive discharge of pus and blood, restlessness due to heat, or evening fever with thirst. (Formula see Bleeding Unceasing)
Shiquan Dabu Tang (Perfect Ten Great Tonifying Decoction) treats contusion wounds where stasis and filth have been expelled, with dual deficiency of Qi and Blood, unresolved swelling and pain, or rotting without ulceration, or ulceration without healing; chills and fever, spontaneous and night sweats, poor appetite, limb fatigue. For frail individuals with cyan swelling at the injury site but intact muscles, self-healing occurs upon ingestion. If stasis exists and pricking was done early, it dissipates naturally. If ulcerated with thin pus and no flesh regeneration, or dry mouth with desire for warm drinks, or post-pricking fever, chills, headache, dizziness, dry mouth and thirst resembling Stroke syndrome—all belong to Qi and Blood deficiency. All are suitable for this formula. (Composed of Sijunzi Tang [Four Gentlemen Decoction], Siwu Tang [Four Substance Decoction] plus Rougui [Cinnamon Bark] and Huangqi [Astragalus Root].)
Bazhen Tang (Eight Treasures Decoction, also known as Bawu Tang) treats injuries and similar conditions with excessive blood loss, or damage to Qi and Blood from mistaken use of purgative herbs, presenting with chills and fever, irritability and thirst; or sores due to Qi deficiency with unresolved swelling and pain, inability to ulcerate or heal; or ulcers with chills and fever, thin pus, and chronic non-healing. (Composed of Sijunzi Tang [Four Gentlemen Decoction] and Siwu Tang [Four Substance Decoction].)
Heilong San (Black Dragon Powder) treats falls and blows causing bone fractures. First, realign the bone, apply paper splints. If fractured, use thin wooden strips for clamping. Bind tightly with small rope for three days. Continue previous methods, do not remove splints to avoid disturbing the injury site, until the bone is firmly set, then discontinue splints. For wounds caused by knives, arrows, or insects, apply paste mixed with Ginger Juice (Sheng Jiang Zhi, 姜汁) and water. If oral mucosa is damaged, apply Yuzhen San (Precious Treasure Powder).
Pipaye (Loquat Leaf, half liang, de-haired; alternatively Shan Pipa Gen [Mountain Loquat Root]) Chuanshanjia (Pangolin Scale, 6 liang, stir-fried yellow or calcined)
Grind into fine powder. Mix with Ginger Juice and water, or Rehmannia Juice (Dihuang Zhi, 地黄汁) is also good.
Dihuang Wan (Rehmannia Pill) (Formula see Thirst Unceasing)
