(This condition arises from the intermingling of heat-toxin qi and blood, exacerbated by the ascending movement of wind, causing the pathology to wander throughout the body. It is named "Chi You Feng" (Red Wandering Wind); if the pathogen enters the abdomen, it is fatal.)
Wufu Huadu Dan (Five Blessings Detoxifying Pill) (This formula is specifically indicated for treating gan-heat [childhood malnutrition with heat], carbuncles, furuncles, erysipelas, and similar conditions.)
Xijiao (Rhinoceros Horn), Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Recens), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), Chifuling (Poria cum Ligno et Ramis), Eshi (Arctii Fructus), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus), Fen Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Preparated with Starch), Boning (Natrii Sulfas), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix) (each 1 liang), Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis) (3 qian).
This preparation combines two formulas. Add Renshen (Panacis Ginseng Radix) 5 qian, Shexiang (Moschus), and Yinjinbo/Jinyinbo (Gold and Silver Leaf) 8 pieces each. Process into 12 pills per liang of raw material. For a one-year-old infant, administer one pill divided into four doses.
Xijiao Xiaodu Yin (Rhinoceros Horn Detoxification Decoction) (An urgent formula for treating erysipelas and maculopapular rashes.)
Niubangzi (Arctii Fructus, ground and stir-fried with wine), Jingjie Sui (Schizonepetae Spica), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) (each 1 qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (7 fen), Xijiao (Rhinoceros Horn) (5 fen).
Adding Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus), Baishao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, stir-fried with wine), and Zicao Rong (Lithospermi Radix et Rhizoma) each 7-8 fen enhances efficacy.
If the erysipelas pathogen penetrates inward, abdominal distension will inevitably occur. Immediately prick the edges of the red halo with fine needles in a scattered manner to prevent spread. Perform acupuncture 2-3 times daily. After needling, applying fresh pork meat is optimal.
(After treatment, administering blood-nourishing formulas is advisable to prevent blood damage caused by needling.)
Alternative prescription: After needling, apply fresh human feces mixed with a small amount of vinegar to the affected area.
Alternative prescription: After needling, burn intact Abalone Shell (Fubao Ge) to ash, mix with vinegar, and apply until healed.
Alternative prescription: Roast tofu over fire and apply as a poultice.
Alternative prescription: At the initial stage of erysipelas eruption, use raw chestnut with inner skin, grind finely with father's urine, and apply frequently.
Alternative prescription: Apply mashed Catalpa Leaves (Qiu Ye) juice externally (if leaves are dry, soak in water before use).
Alternative prescription: Mix authentic Jiang Mo (Fermented Soybean Paste residue) with aged authentic sauce and apply.
Alternative prescription: Grind Ricinus Seeds (Bimazi) and apply with vinegar.
Alternative prescription: Apply thick chicken egg yolk first, then rub with warm Tiger Bone (Hugu).
Alternative prescription: Wash with water used by three families of different surnames to wash dishes.
Alternative prescription: Wash with pig urine, then prepare a hot cake using Mai Mai (likely a local herb name, possibly referring to a grain or specific root) mixed with vinegar; apply when cool.
If floating qi appears on the face with normal white color, forming tinea lesions or cherry-like pustules containing pus, this also belongs to erysipelas, commonly known as "Bai Dandu" (White Erysipelas). Apply chicken egg yolk and rub with warm tiger bone.
If facial sores ulcerate without intact skin, discharging pus and water, and all medicines fail, applying lard preserved in the twelfth lunar month is excellent.
Alternative prescription: Burn White Poplar Branches (Baiyang Zhi), collect the dripping liquid, and apply; highly effective.
Alternative prescription: For facial sores and various malignant ulcers, apply Mieban Gao (Scar-Extinguishing Ointment) with extreme efficacy. (Made from equal parts Ji Shi [Galli Stercoris], Bai Ying Shi [Accipiter Gentilis Droppings], Baiyi Yu [Fish covered in white mold], Baifu Zi [Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix], Baijiangcan [Bombyx Batryticatus], Baizhi [Angelicae Dahuricae Radix], processed into powder and mixed with sesame oil to form an ointment).
If the skin naturally breaks and gradually rots, apply dog skin (cold skin is ineffective). Change the dressing 2-3 times daily; highly effective.
For Zouma Chuang (Running Horse Ulcer - fetal heat combined with phlegm, invaded by wind, wandering各处, stagnating to form pus), Feishi (Flying Corpse), and Guju (Bone Abscess) (slight floating qi inside/outside the thigh indicates Feishi if shallow pus; no external floating qi indicates Guju if deep pus. Determine suppuration by checking for heat sensation at Jin Suo [GB30] and the affected site). Before suppuration occurs, use Xijiao Xiaodu Yin plus Beimu (Fritillariae Bulbus, heart removed, dry-fried), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, processed, dry-fried), Lianqiao, Baishao Yao, Tianhuafen (Trichosanthis Radix), Jinyinhua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos) each 5 fen, Rushen (Frankincense) and Moyao (Myrrha) each 3 fen. Externally, mix Nanting (Arisaematis Rhizoma), Kufan (Alumen Exsiccatum), Baoyan (Salt), Zhen Mo (Authentic Paste Residue), and Jiangzhi (Ginger Juice) to form a cake for application. (This formula originates from Xianhua Huadu Tang).
If Zouma, Feishi, or Guju have already suppurated, after puncturing and draining, use Xijiao Xiaodu Yin plus Beimu, Banxia, Lianqiao, Baishao Yao, Huangqi (Astragali Radix), Baizhi, and Zaojiaoci (Gleditsiae Sinensis Spina) each 5 fen. Externally, mix Xionghuang (Realgar), Longnao (Borneolum Syntheticum), and Baoyan with White Dog Gallbladder juice, inject into the wound, and change dressing once daily until healed.
Alternative prescription: Whether pre-suppurative or post-suppurative, Chan Kuai (Toad Meat), She Kuai (Snake Meat), or their juices can be consumed, either as dried meat jerky or pills.
