Qi and Blood are excessively deficient, failing to exert control, [the treatment] should be Bazhen Tang (Eight-Treasure Decoction) with Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae) and Chaihu (Radix Bupleuri) added; in severe cases, one slice of Shu Fuzi (Prepared Radix Aconiti Lateralis) is added.
Verse: Postpartum Qi and Blood are extremely weak, frequent enuresis is hard to restrain.
Do not rashly administer astringent agents; vigorously tonifying Qi and Blood will naturally restore control.
Postpartum enuresis is difficult to constrain; use Bazhen Tang (Eight-Treasure Decoction) with Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae) and Chaihu (Radix Bupleuri).
In severe cases, add slices of Shu Fuzi (Prepared Radix Aconiti Lateralis); decoct in water, take warm, and the illness can be cured.
If the delivery process is irregular, or the midwife is unskilled, causing accidental rupture of the bladder (urinary bladder), use Renshen (Radix Ginseng) as the sovereign drug, Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) and Xiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong) as the minister drugs, Tao Ren (Semen Persicae), Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae), and Fuling (Poria) as the assistant drugs. Decoct the medicine using pig or sheep urinary bladders; after taking it over a hundred times, peace is restored. Another prescription states: use one chi of raw yellow silk gauze, powder of Bai Mudan Pi Gen (Cortex Moutan Radicis) and Baiji (Rhizoma Bletillae), each two qian. With two bowls of water, boil until the silk gauze dissolves like maltose. Take this medicine, lie quietly, do not make noise. It is named BUPAO YIN (Bladder-Reinforcing Drink), with miraculous efficacy.
Due to postpartum weakness, heat pathogens lodge in the bladder (urinary bladder). Internal deficiency causes frequent urination; heat causes dribbling,涩 (astringency/obstruction), pain, termed Lin Syndrome (Dysuria).
Maogen Tang (Imperata Rhizome Decoction) treats both cold and hot Lin Syndrome (Dysuria) occurring postpartum.
Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) (one liang), Baimaogen (Rhizoma Imperatae) (one liang), Qumai (Herba Dianthi), Baifuling (Poria) (each five qian), Kuizi (Semen Malvae), Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Tao Jiao (Gum Tragacanth), Huashi (Talcum) (each one qian), Shishouyutou (Caput Pseudosciaenae) (four pieces).
Decoct with Dengxincao (Medulla Junci), mix with tooth powder, take on an empty stomach.
Commentary: One version's small note records: The symptom arises from internal deficiency; using one liang of Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) in the formula has no such treatment method; do not rigidly adhere to old prescriptions to cause harm. In another version, Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) is one qian, without Huashi (Talcum). Yet another version uses equal parts.
Another prescription: Treats postpartum painful dysuria with blood.
Baimaogen (Rhizoma Imperatae), Qumai (Herba Dianthi), Kuizi (Semen Malvae), Cheqianzi (Semen Plantaginis), Tongcao (Medica Tetrapami) (above items have no specified dosage), Liyu Chi (Teeth of Cyprinus Carpio) (one hundred pieces).
Decoct in water and take. Also mix with tooth powder.
Commentary: Regarding "tooth powder," it is suspected that these are all teeth of Cyprinus Carpio.
Verse: For Lin Syndrome (Dysuria), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) and Baumaogen (Rhizoma Imperatae) are sovereign; Qumai (Herba Dianthi), Fuling (Poria), Huashi (Talcum), and Renshen (Radix Ginseng) are ministers.
Kuizi (Semen Malvae), Tao Jiao (Gum Tragacanth), Shishouyutou (Caput Pseudosciaenae), with Dengxincao (Medulla Junci) as guide, achieve miraculous effect.
Postpartum painful dysuria with blood, use Qumai (Herba Dianthi), Kuizi (Semen Malvae), and Baimaogen (Rhizoma Imperatae).
Cheqianzi (Semen Plantaginis), Tongcao (Medica Tetrapami), Liyu Chi (Teeth of Cyprinus Carpio); grind fish teeth into powder, decoct in water and swallow.
