This condition is often treated by people with wind-dispelling herbs, but it rarely shows efficacy. This prescription regulates Qi and Blood, thus ensuring effectiveness.
[Sheep Epilepsy Syndrome]: The patient suddenly falls down, makes sounds like a sheep or horse, and vomits copious amounts of phlegm from the mouth. This is caused by Phlegm confusing the Heart orifice. It is generally due to Cold pathogen; contracting Cold triggers the attack. Prescription:
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) (3 qian), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (1 liang), Fu Shen (Poria with Hostwood) (5 qian), Shan Yao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma) (3 qian), Yi Ren (Coicis Semen) (5 qian), Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex) (1 qian), Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) (1 qian), Ban Xia (Pinelliae Tuber) (3 qian).
Decoct in water and take orally.
(This prescription assists Zheng Qi [Upright Qi] to generate Xin Xue [Heart Blood], adds Rou Gui and Fu Zi to dispel Cold pathogen, and adds Ban Xia to resolve Phlegm and drive out fluid retention. Naturally, Qi returns and epilepsy stops. One dose cures it completely, preventing recurrence forever. Please cherish this.)
Another prescription:
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) (1 liang), Fu Shen (Poria with Hostwood) (1 liang), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (5 qian), Ban Xia (Pinelliae Tuber) (1 qian), Nan Xing (Arisaematis Rhizoma) (1 qian), Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) (1 qian), Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix) (1 qian), Chang Pu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) (0.3 fen).

This was originally a formula for treating Cold-type Mania, but it is also excellent for treating epilepsy.
Yet another prescription:
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) (3 liang), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (5 liang), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (1 liang), Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) (3 qian), Sheng Nan Xing (Raw Arisaematis Rhizoma) (1 liang), Ban Xia (Pinelliae Tuber) (1 liang), Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) (1 qian).
Make into honey pills. Must be taken before an attack occurs to prevent recurrence permanently. (Strengthening Stomach Qi naturally prevents Phlegm generation. Moreover, assisted by potent Phlegm-resolving agents, this formula ensures self-healing.)
This condition often arises from deficiency-Cold of the Spleen and Stomach. When food enters the Stomach, it fails to transform into essence and instead transforms into Phlegm. Phlegm confuses the Heart orifice, leading to Dian Kuang [Epilepsy and Mania]. If one merely treats Phlegm without tonifying Qi, death will inevitably follow rapidly. Prescription:
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) (5 qian), Bai Jie Zi (Sinapis Semen) (5 qian), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (1 liang), Ban Xia (Pinelliae Tuber) (3 qian), Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) (2 qian), Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex) (1 qian), Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) (1 qian), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (0.5 fen), Chang Pu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) (0.5 fen).
Decoct in water and take orally.
If a woman suffers from this condition, remove Rou Gui, add Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) (1 liang), Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix) (2 qian), and Hei Zhi Zi (Gardeniae Fructus processed with bran) (1 qian). The therapeutic effect is most miraculous.
