After emesis, regulation is needed, and reactions will cease after several days." Dairen often said: "After emesis, some feel instantly relieved; some feel gradually relieved; some feel instead lethargic and stifled, indicating that the pathogen is not yet exhausted; some feel feverish, indicating that purgation is necessary. Generally speaking, within three days, no one fails to feel relieved. For those whose purgation does not stop, use ice water to resolve it. Medicines that are hot move, while those that are cold stop."

Meng Taiheng's swelling disease had subsided, and he should have restricted his diet as well as salt, blood products, and sexual intercourse. Due to carelessness, the disease relapsed. At that time, Dairen was away at home, and there was no one to save him, so he died.

Dairen often said: "After Shanghan (Cold Damage), avoid meat, sexual intercourse, and labor; after edema, prohibit sexual intercourse and salty/oily flavors for three years; after slippery discharge, avoid greasy foods. These three prohibitions must absolutely be observed." Dairen often said: "In cases of long-standing stagnation and obstruction, sudden relief through emesis and purgation harmonizes Qi and Blood, causing Heart and Kidney to interact. Sexual function may become aroused. It is especially crucial to abstain from sexual intercourse because Yuan Qi (Original Qi) has just returned. Violating this causes the disease to recur, and one might wrongly blame the emesis and purgation therapies."
