The Five Elements' Dampness corresponds to Wu and Ji (Earth); when Dampness enters the Lung Meridian, it manifests as Excess.
The Six Flavors belong to Earth; they have substance: Sour, Bitter, Sweet, Pungent, Salty, Bland.
The Five Zang Organs' Dampness corresponds to the Spleen and Stomach; when Dampness enters the Large Intestine, it manifests as Deficiency.
As for Wei Xie (Stomach Diarrhea), food is not digested, passing out whole, with yellow color; this is due to Wind pathogen invading the Stomach. It is appropriate to use resolving agents.
As for Pi Xie (Spleen Diarrhea), there is abdominal distension and fullness with diarrhea; in Excess patterns, vomiting and regurgitation occur. These three conditions are appropriate to treat with harmonizing agents, bland-draining agents, sweet-moderating agents, and clearing agents.
