Take one dan (a unit of weight/volume) of buckwheat straw stalks, ensuring they are not rotten. Burn them to ash while preserving their medicinal properties (Cunxing), add half a jin (500g) of Duan Shi (Calcined Alumen), and sieve the mixture together until the fire is extinguished. Then, pour hot water over the ash pile to leach out the alkaline solution. Boil this lixivium in an iron vessel, stirring continuously until it thickens into a paste. Apply this paste to the depressions left after smallpox sores heal (Yei); the marks will naturally disappear. Alternatively, one may first prick the skin with a grass stem before applying the medicine.

Another prescription:
Use ash from mulberry branches and Duan Shi (Calcined Alumen). Leach the juice and boil it down into a paste. Prick the skin with a grass stem, apply the paste, and then rinse with fresh water. Avoid greasy foods.

Ash accumulated from temple incense burners over many years, mixed with powdered feces from wild beasts. Blend with a small amount of oil and apply to burns or scalds; immediate effect is observed.

Another prescription:
Extract juice from fresh Radix Rehmanniae Preparata (Sheng Dihuang Zhi), add a small amount of oil and beeswax, and boil together into a paste. Store in a porcelain container. Sweep the paste onto the scalded area using a chicken feather.

Another prescription:
Collect green moss growing on cultivated soil, burn it to ash. Mix with a small amount of oil and apply to burns or scalds.

Take fresh Radix Rehmanniae Preparata (Sheng Dihuang), harvest and use immediately. Mash thoroughly to extract natural juice, add a small amount of oil and yellow beeswax, and boil in a silver or stone vessel until it forms a paste. Apply to the sore using a chicken feather.

Another prescription:
Use Xue Yu Hui (Ash of Human Hair). Blend with lard from pigs slaughtered in the twelfth lunar month and apply.

Another prescription:
Han Shui Shi (Aqua Calcitae), calcined and ground into fine powder. Mix with water and apply.

Pi Sha (Realgar sublimated with alum), Huang Dan (Lead Oxide), Xiong Huang (Realgar), Fen Shuang (Calomel), Qing Fen (Sublimated Corrosive Sublimate) (each 1 qian), Ban Mao (Mylabris) (20 pieces, used raw), Zhu Sha (Cinnabar) (1 qian), Ru Xiang (Boswellia Resin) (3 qian), Mo Yao (Myrrh) (1 qian).
Grind all ingredients into a fine powder. Use rice porridge paste as a binder to form pills shaped like chess pieces, and bake them dry. First, moxibustion should be applied to the top of the tumor until it breaks open, limited to three moxa cones. Place a cake made of this wound medicine on the ulcer, and cover it with a paste made of Huang Bai (Phellodendri Cortex) mixed with water. After several days, the tumor will naturally dry up and fall off.

Another prescription:
Grind Tong Lv (Verdigris) into powder. Prick the tumor with a grass stem, sprinkle the powder on it, and cover with a plaster.
To treat tumors on the head and face, tie the base of the tumor tightly with spider silk. After two or three days, it will naturally recede and fall off.

For applying to pain and swelling caused by beating with sticks (Zhang Chuang):
Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Huang Bai (Phellodendri Cortex), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix) (each 3 qian), Ru Xiang (Boswellia Resin) (separately ground), Mo Yao (Myrrh) (separately ground, each 1 qian), Nao Zi (Borneolum Syntheticum) (a small amount).
Grind the first four herbs into powder, then mix in the other three. Blend evenly with cold water. Spread the mixture onto red silk fabric and apply to the wound caused by beating.
