Regarding cases of red eyes (conjunctival hyperemia) that persist for a year without healing, this is caused by the invasion of Head Wind (pathogenic wind affecting the head), leading to headache. Formulas such as Dusheng San (Solely Holy Powder) and Bazheng San (Eight Righteousnesses Decoction) may be used.
The onset of swelling and redness in the eyes indicates Heat in the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian. Promoting urination can eliminate Wind-Heat from the Liver Meridian.
Tearing triggered by Wind exposure, commonly known as "Wind-Cold Tears," is described in the *Neijing* (Classic of Internal Medicine): "The Taiyang Meridian fails to maintain consolidation." It also states: "When Heat prevails, all five fluids are excreted." Due to Liver Heat, tears flow. Wind attacks externally while Fire erupts internally; the struggle between Wind and Fire results in tearing. Treatment involves one piece of Fritillariae Bulbus (Beimu, 贝母)—preferably white and fine-grained—and seven grains of Piperis Longi Fructus (Hujiao, 胡椒). Grind into a fine powder without contact with copper or iron utensils. Apply to the eye before sleep for cure.
For chronic toothache caused by dental caries that does not heal, insert a needle through one seed of Crotonis Fructus (Badou, 巴豆), roast it over a lamp flame until the smoke has not fully dissipated, then quickly preserve its medicinal properties. Smoke the root area of the affected tooth socket until healed.
For adults and children suffering from mouth sores with tight lips, wash away the white crusts with Acidum Mume Decoction (Suanjiang Shui, 酸浆水). Before bed, apply Lv Pao San (Green Robe Powder). If there is no improvement, apply Fu Yan San (Banquet Attending Powder). If still ineffective, apply Qian Bai Shuang San (Lead White Frost Powder) for cure.
For men and women suffering from throat obstruction (throat closure with swelling and pain) unable to speak, slightly prick both hands' thumb nail corners, approximately the width of a leek leaf, at the Shaoshang acupoint (LU-11). Shaoshang is the Jing-Well point of the Lung Metal meridian. Prick with a needle until blood flows; immediate recovery occurs. If unresolved, gargle with warm plain water. This method utilizes Heat to guide out Heat.
Regarding goiter (neck swelling) accompanied by chest fullness, Ji Jinye stated in *Yangsheng Lun* (Discourse on Health Preservation): "A neck appearing dangerous and developing a goiter is due to local soil and water conditions." Ren Shen Hua Ying Dan (Ginseng Goiter-Resolving Pill) can be taken to resolve the swelling. Additionally, using three marine herbs—Laminariae Thallus (Haidai, 海带), Sargassum Herba (Haizao, 海藻), and Ecliptae Herba (Kunbu, 昆布)—all obtained from the sea, placing them in a water jar for daily consumption can also eliminate the goiter.
When a back sore first appears, Zangyong Wan (Preserved Use Pill) and Yuzhu San (Jade Candle Powder) should be administered immediately in large doses to induce bowel movements, purging the internal organs one or twenty times. Subsequently, use needles to randomly prick the swollen area until blood emerges, repeating this three times. Finally, apply Yangqishi San (Yangqi Stone Powder) topically. Do not immediately administer Neituo San (Internal Support Powder), as it contains Cinnamomi Cortex (Guirou, 官桂). If decocted with wine, given that the male back belongs to Yang, adding heat to an existing heat condition would be excessively hot. Only when the sore shows slight improvement, or if the wound remains open and scabs have not yet formed, and wind-induced itching occurs intermittently, should Neituo San be taken to ward off Wind pathogens.
