When sores, swellings, and scrofula (tuberculous lymphadenitis of the neck) occur on the head and eyes, or between the chest and hypochondrium, where crusts, swollen nodules do not resolve, or pus flows incessantly, one may use 1–2 liang of Cangyan (Cang Salt), stir-fried, decocted in a large bowl of long-flowing water. After cooling to warm temperature, take it all at once in three to five doses. Wait a short while, then stimulate the throat to induce vomiting, expelling two to three sheng of saliva/phlegm. Subsequently, administer herbs that harmonize blood and unblock meridians, such as Yuzhu San (Jade Candle Powder) or Siwu Tang (Four Substance Decoction). The *Neijing* states: "The salty taste induces vomiting and purgation, belonging to Yin." Vomiting is Yong; purgation is Xie. The *Tongren* states: "Shaoyang begins at the outer canthus, passes behind the ear, descends along the hypochondrium, passing through Qimen." Scrofula tubercles, Marknife-Jia-Ying (lateral neck masses), are diseases of the Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian characterized by abundant Qi and scarce Blood.
Bianyong (Perineal Abscess) refers to hernias in men, commonly known as Bianyong. It is named so because an abscess occurs at the anus. However, "Bianyong" is a misnomer, not recorded in the *Nanjing* or *Suwen*. Nevertheless, the Foot Jueyin Liver Meridian is the pathway for Qi and Blood circulation. The Chong, Ren, and Du vessels also belong to the collateral branches of the Liver Meridian. The *Nanjing* states: "Men have seven types of hernias," referring to this. Bianyong is a type of Blood Hernia. Treatment involves using Daoshui Wan (Water-Guiding Pill), Tao Ren Chengqi Tang (Peach Kernel and Rhubarb Decoction), or Didang Tang (Resist the Stasis Decoction), treating it as unresolved blood stasis with strong dosage, inducing severe purgation ten to twenty times. Thereafter, use Yuzhu San to harmonize Qi and Blood and unblock meridians. Many people today only use Dahuang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome) and Muli (Oyster Shell). Cases that fail to heal do so because they ignore the principle of harmonizing blood and unblocking meridians.
For all malignant sores that fail to heal over a long period, applying Muxiang Binglang San (Aucklandia and Areca Seed Powder) will lead to recovery.
Chancres that fail to heal over a long period are commonly called Sao-gan (Fetid Chancre). First, use Daoshui Wan and Yugong San to purge the Liver Meridian externally apply Muxiang San, twice or thrice daily. Then consume light rice gruel, stopping other foods after one or two days.
When adults suffer from carbuncles and furuncles, or children suffer from red tumors, pain persists during swelling onset. The *Neijing* states: "All pain, itching, sores, and ulcers arise from Heart Fire." A mantra method can be used to suppress it. This method relies on mental focus. The mantra reads:
"Dragon ghosts flow, all toxic swellings,
Abscesses, sores, pus and blood cause great pain.
Forgive heart, fulfill intent, Great Compassion Mantra,
Three spits dissolve toxic swellings instantly."
Inhale one breath, recite the mantra three times, draw energy from the sun, moon, or lamp fire into one mouthful of air, and blow it onto the sore, swelling, or erysipelas tumor. With the right hand, perform empty grasping and pinching motions three times over the lesion, keeping the left hand still. Each breath involves reciting three times and performing the empty motions three times. There are no taboos. When using this method, maintaining a correct mind is essential. This method was inherited from my grandmother, Lady Han. Passed down for over a hundred years, it has saved lives with 100% efficacy. For those who abstain from meat and alcohol, the method is even more effective. Patients with sores and swellings must strictly avoid chicken, pork, fish, rabbit, and foods that generate heat and stir wind. This method should not be slighted or mocked; it can be used where medicines are unavailable.
