There is a spell-casting method for treating scorpion stings, the spell reads:
"Yu Nu Chuan Xian She, Chi Zhan Xi Mie." (Jade Maiden Transmits Immortal Control, Decree to Cut and Extinguish Lizards/Scorpions.)
If someone bitten by a scorpion comes seeking treatment, look at the site of the sting, draw in one breath, recite the spell silently seven times, perform the ritual with anger, and blow the breath onto the stung area.
The *Huangdi Neijing* (Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon) states that the toxicity of bees and scorpions all belongs to Fire. One can soak the affected area in a basin of fresh water. If there are parts that cannot be soaked, quickly dip a handkerchief or cloth in water and apply it to the area; then the pain will cease. Those using this method must strictly avoid eating "Wu Yan Rou" (Five Disgusting Meats).
For any man or woman who suffers from falls from horses or wells, resulting in bruises and blows, and subsequently develops mental disturbances ("Xin Yang"), this is caused by phlegm-saliva rising upward. The *Huangdi Neijing* states: "Diseases arising externally do not stem from Qi movement alone" (Note: Textual interpretation varies, literal translation provided). One may use *Sansheng San* (Three Holy Powders), administered on an empty stomach to induce vomiting until effective. If the patient is weak and exhausted, one may use *Dusheng San* (Single Holy Powder) to induce vomiting; after vomiting, one may administer herbs that calm the soul and stabilize the spirit, such as *Dingzhi Wan* (Calming Will Pill), Suanzaoren (Ziziphus Seed), and Fushen (Poria with Hostwood).
When a woman’s menstrual flow is stagnant and does not occur for several months, yet her muscles do not diminish, the *Huangdi Neijing* states: "This is named Jia (mass) or Chen (sinking)." Chen refers to menstrual stagnation where flow does not proceed. One should urgently administer *Taoren Chengqi Tang* (Peach Kernel Decoction to Order the Qi) with added Danggui (Angelica Sinensis), preparing a large dose. Within no more than three doses, recovery will be immediate. Subsequently, tonify with *Siwu Tang* (Four Substances Decoction). Additionally, *Binglang Wan* (Areca Seed Pill) from *Xuanming Fang* (Prescriptions of Manifest Clarity) may be used.
For women aged forty or above, or those who have experienced excessive grief, the *Huangdi Neijing* states: "Excessive grief causes the Xin Mai (Heart Vessel) to contract tightly; when the Heart Vessel contracts tightly, the Fei Ye (Lung Leaves) spread and rise, causing the Upper Jiao (Upper Burner) to become obstructed, with hot qi accumulating in the center, thus leading to uterine bleeding (Beng Xia)." The Xin Mai is also referred to as the "Blood Mountain." If this persists without cure, the face becomes sallow and muscles emaciate. One must strictly avoid treating this with drying and heating herbs. Have you not heard that blood flows and scatters when heated? First, treat with *Huanglian Jiedu Tang* (Coptis Decoction to Resolve Toxicity); subsequently, treat with *Liangge San* (Cool the Diaphragm Powder) and *Siwu Tang* (Four Substances Decoction) until cured. Siwu Tang cools the blood and is considered a miraculous medicine for women. Adjust the dosage according to deficiency or excess, applying clinical judgment.
For women suffering from pain in the waist and hips, numbness in both legs, aversion to cold, and preference for warmth, the *Huangdi Neijing* states: "This is Wind-Cold-Damp Bi (Obstruction)." First, administer 70–80 pills of *Chushi Dan* (Dampness-Expelling Elixir), adjusting the dose based on deficiency or excess. Next, administer *Yugong San* (Work of Yu Powder) to purge; the sign of efficacy is the discharge of over ten stools containing clear, cold accumulated fluid and yellow-green phlegm-mucus. Finally, decoct *Wuling San* (Five-Ling Powder) with long-flowing water, fresh ginger, and jujubes, and administer it. This disperses wind-dampness and harmonizes the blood and Qi.
