Treatment for conditions where weak blood and yin deficiency fail to nourish the Heart, leading to flourishing Heart Fire and excessive Yang Fire, resulting in dilated pupils; the Shaoyin Jun Fire becomes inactive, allowing Xiang Fire to assume its function, involving the Pericardium.
The vessels of the Pericardium emerge from the Heart system and divide into three branches. The substance of Shaoyang Xiang Fire is formless, but its function lies within it. Excessive Fire causes the mother organ (Liver) to become full, meaning the Yi Wood (Liver) is hyperactive. The Heart vessels accompany the eye system, and the Liver also connects to the eye system. Furthermore, the Hand and Foot Shaoyang vessels originate together in the ear, ascend to the upper corner of the ear, and slant upwards to the outer canthus of the eye. Excess Wind-Heat also ascends via this pathway, attacking the head and eyes, causing unilateral headache, swelling, and distension, dilated pupils, and blurred vision. This is due to blood deficiency and weak Yin. The treatment method should be to nourish blood, cool blood, benefit blood,收敛 (astringe/contract) the dilated pupils, and dispel Wind-Heat, which will lead to recovery.
