Among all things between Heaven and Earth, human beings are the most precious. The head corresponds to Heaven, and the feet correspond to Earth. One should cherish the body inherited from parents; among the Five Blessings (Wufu) described in the *Book of Documents* (*Hongfan*), longevity is the supreme one. To maintain health, one must know three prohibitions: extreme anger, excessive desires, and heavy intoxication. If even one of these three exists, one must guard against the loss of Zhen Yuan Qi (True Primal Qi). To seek longevity, one must restrain anger; when fire does not flare up, the mind naturally settles. Just as wood can extinguish fire without turning to ash, a person who restrains their temperament can extend their life. Greed for desires is endless and causes one to forget Jing (Essence); excessive mental effort leads to the loss of Shen Yuan (Primordial Spirit); physical exhaustion scatters the Zhonghe Qi (Harmonious Qi). By what means can this body be preserved? If the heart/mind is over-consumed, it will be exhausted; if the form/body is over-laboring, it will become weak; if the spirit is over-damaged, it will become deficient; if Qi is over-dissipated, it will be severed. Those who wish to understand the Way of Health Preservation should have regular joy and pleasure, and little anger or resentment; with sincere and upright hearts, eliminating distracting thoughts, they should cultivate themselves according to principles to remove worries. In spring, the "Xu" sound brightens the eyes; in summer, the "He" sound nourishes the Heart; in autumn and winter, the "Chui" sound calms the Lungs and Kidneys; throughout the four seasons, the "Hu" sound aids the Spleen in transforming food; the "Xi" sound clears the Sanjiao (Triple Burner), making heat difficult to retain. Hair should be combed often, Qi should be cultivated, teeth should be tapped frequently, and saliva should be swallowed. To achieve immortality, one must cultivate the "Kunlun" (referring to the head), frequently rubbing the face with both hands. In spring months, eat less sour and more sweet; in winter months, eat bitter and avoid salty. In summer, increase pungent flavors and decrease bitter ones; in autumn, decrease pungent and slightly increase sour. In the transitional months (last 18 days of each season), reduce salt and slightly adjust sweetness; thus, the Five Viscera (Zang-Fu) remain peaceful. If one can fully regulate diet, the body will be healthy, and balanced flavors will prevent illness. In spring cold, do not wear thin cotton clothes; in summer, when sweating heavily, change clothes appropriately; in autumn and winter, add clothing when feeling cold; do not wait until illness arises to take medicine. Summer is the most difficult season to regulate; Yin cold hides inside, so ice water is taboo. Melons, peaches, and raw/cold foods should be eaten sparingly to avoid malaria or dysentery in autumn. When Heart Fire is strong and Kidney Water is weak, sexual activity should be avoided. Nourishing the Kidneys and securing Essence requires moderation. Keeping the Kidneys full and not empty ensures natural strength and freedom from worry. Overeating damages the Spleen; hunger damages the Stomach; extreme thirst damages Blood; drinking too much damages Qi. Do not overindulge in eating and drinking to avoid bloating that harms the Lungs and Heart. Forcing alcohol after drunkenness or forcing food after fullness inevitably leads to disease. Humans rely on diet for nourishment; removing excess brings comfort. After meals, walk slowly for at least a hundred steps and gently massage the umbilical abdomen to aid digestion. At midnight, nourish the spiritual root with clear fluids (saliva), and firmly exhale turbid Qi from the Dantian. Drinking wine can temper character, but excessive drinking invites myriad diseases. If the Lung, acting as the Hua Gai (Canopy covering other organs), is injured, coughing and mental strain damage life. Never use salt to season tea; this is like inviting thieves into the house. Deficiency-cold in the Lower Jiao causes emaciation and damages the Kidneys and Spleen, increasing disease risk. Avoid wind when sitting or lying down, especially behind the neck; wind striking the back of the neck shortens life. Furthermore, lying in the wind while drunk or full allows Wind Evil to enter the Five Viscera, causing disaster. Geese follow order, dogs show righteousness, and black carp swim north knowing loyalty; if humans lack propriety and righteousness yet consume these animals, Heaven and Earth deities will ultimately disapprove. To nourish the body, one must restrain the Five Pungents (Cong, Garlic, Leek, Allium tuberosum, and Asafoetida); unrestrained pungents harm the body, stirring up Deficient Yang, leading to Essence depletion, Blood withering, and gradual disease invasion. Whether at home or abroad, upon encountering thunderstorms or heavy winds, one should immediately stand solemn, revere Heavenly Majesty, sit quietly, clarify the mind, and exercise caution. Entanglement in love and affection restricts freedom; bondage to profit and fame—when will it cease? Widen your perspective to leave room for fortune, avoiding premature white hair in middle age. Standing under Heaven and treading on Earth is not easy; being well-fed and warmly clothed, should one not feel gratitude? Reflecting on the inability to repay the boundless grace of parents, burn incense morning and evening to confess and repent. How to attain bodily peace, longevity, and blessings? By maintaining a calm and level mind and accumulating good deeds. Cherish life, cherish the body, and cherish Qi. Please carefully study the *Song of Health Preservation*.
