This prescription was transmitted to me in the eighth month of the Jihai year of the Jiajing era (1539). After completing my studies under Mr. Lu Shengye in Huzhou, I returned south to Hangzhou, where I encountered an extraordinary person who taught it to me. It is specifically indicated for deficiency and damage of the True Yuan (True Origin) in both men and women, leading to long-term infertility, or a tendency to have more daughters than sons. Taking this gelatin for one hundred days will result in pregnancy and the birth of male children, with verification being swift and miraculous. It also treats conditions such as the depletion of True Yin due to excessive alcohol and sexual indulgence in men, and various deficiencies of blood and Qi caused by emotional injuries (Seven Emotions) in women, including all types of deficiency damages, Five Exhaustions (Wu Lao), and Seven Injuries (Qi Shang). All these are treated effectively.

Deer Antler (Use fresh antlers from sika deer; do not use red deer antlers. Do not remove the tips or the brain bone section. Cut into two-cun segments, split open, and use ten jin [approx. 5 kg] of clean material). Tortoise Plastron (Remove tendons, wash clean, five jin [approx. 2.5 kg], crush into pieces).

Place the above two ingredients in a bag and soak them in running water for three days. Prepare one lead jar; alternatively, place a large piece of lead at the bottom of a non-lead jar. Put the antlers and plastron into the jar and add water to cover the materials by three to five cun [approx. 10-16 cm]. Seal the jar with three liang [approx. 112 g] of yellow wax. Place the sealed jar inside a large pot and decoct using mulberry wood fire for seven days and nights. During decoction, add hot water to the inner jar once daily, ensuring the contents do not boil. Add water to the outer pot five times over a day and night. When the antlers are cooked until they become soft and酥 (crumbly/pasty), remove them, wash, filter, and discard the dregs. The remaining dregs constitute Deer Horn Frost (Lu Jiao Shuang) and Tortoise Shell Frost (Gui Ban Shuang). Set aside the clear liquid separately.

Take fifteen liang [approx. 562 g] of Ginseng Root (Renshen) and thirty liang [approx. 1.12 kg] of Goji Berry (Gouqizi). Decoct in a copper pot with thirty-six bowls of water until the medicinal surface has no free water. Squeeze out the clear liquid using a new cloth. Place the dregs in a stone mortar, pound finely with a wooden pestle, add twenty-four bowls of water, and decoct again as before. Filter, pound again, and decoct again. Repeat this process three times until the dregs lose their taste. Combine the previous Tortoise-Deer liquid with the Ginseng-Goji liquid in the pot. Decoct over gentle fire until the liquid forms beads that do not disperse when dropped in water, indicating the formation of gelatin. Starting from the tenth day, expose the gelatin to sunlight during the day and moonlight/dew at night for seven consecutive days and nights to absorb the essence of the sun and moon. If rainy days cause a shortage in the current month, make up the days in the following month. Dry in a cool, ventilated place. Take one qian [approx. 3.7 g] per dose initially, increase by half a qian every ten days, up to a maximum of three qian [approx. 11 g]. Dissolve in wine and take on an empty stomach.

This prescription was used to treat over one hundred people in six counties of our prefecture, all of whom rejoiced in having many sons. However, its benefit is limited to one region and cannot reach the whole country. Therefore, it is published here to promote the benevolent principle of endless generation. Users should not neglect or slight it.
