Grind the above herbs into a fine powder. Take 1 qian to 2 qian per dose, mixed with one cup of honey water after meals and before bedtime, or it can be taken with clear tea. Take three times daily. Vision will gradually clarify after ten days, and significant results will appear after twenty days. This formula has been effective in treating dozens of people. Later practitioners added Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Gouqizi (Lycii Fructus), Zhiziren (Gardeniae Semen), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Bohe (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), and Tianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma), each in equal parts (forming small pills is also effective).
Treats all eye diseases, corneal opacities, and internal/external visual obstructions.
White milk sheep liver (one piece, scraped open with a bamboo knife, membrane removed, steamed until cooked, and mashed into a paste); Ganjuhua (Chrysanthemi Flos) (5 qian); Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) (1 liang); Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) (deprived of its radix tip); Bohe (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba) (deprived of stems); Jingjiesui (Schizonepetae Spica) (deprived of stems, cleaned); Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix); Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix); Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix) (each 5 qian); Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) (3 qian).
Grind the above herbs into a fine powder and mix with the sheep liver paste to form pills. If difficult to shape, add a small amount of wine paste. Size should be like that of a wutong seed. Take 60–70 pills per dose after meals with rice gruel; before bedtime, take with tea infusion or a half-saline decoction.
Yushen Yeguang Wan (Spirit-Nourishing Night-Light Pill): Brightens vision and removes opacities; highly effective.
Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (soaked in wine, washed, whole plant used, dried); Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix) (boiled in licorice water, heart removed); Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix) (deprived of radix tip, washed in wine; those from Huaiqing are best); Ganjuhua (Chrysanthemi Flos) (deprived of stems and leaves); Digupi (Phellodendri Cortex) (wood removed, washed clean); Ganzhou Gouqi (Lycii Fructus) (deprived of stems); Tusizi (Cuscutae Semen) (washed in wine to remove soil, soaked in wine overnight, boiled until soft, mashed into cakes, sun-dried for use); Huai Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix) (washed in wine); Huai Shudi (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata) (washed in wine, boiled until soft; these two ingredients are placed together in a stone mortar and mashed into a paste).
Except for the dihuang, grind the remaining herbs into a fine powder. Mix evenly with the dihuang paste and refined honey to form pills the size of wutong seeds. Take 60 pills per dose on an empty stomach with salted water, after meals with warm wine (before bedtime, can be taken with tea infusion).
