To treat pain in the lower back, knees, and feet caused by Kidney deficiency (Kidney Deficiency), nourishing Kidney Yin (Nourishing Kidney Yin) and strengthening Yang (Strengthening Yang). Long-term use yields extraordinary effects.
Pozhuzi (Fructus Psoraleae, Sichuan origin preferred): 4 liang, washed, soaked in wine briefly, stir-fried over paper until fragrant. Chuanbixie (Rhizoma Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae, authentic): 4 liang total, soaked overnight separately in 1 liang salt water, 1 liang rice wash water, 1 liang children's urine, and 1 liang unadulterated wine, then dried. Duzhong (Cortex Eucommiae): 4 liang, remove coarse bark, stir-fry with ginger juice until silk fibers are removed. Hutaorou (Semen Juglandis): 8 liang, blanched and peeled. Huangbai (Cortex Phellodendri): 4 liang, honey-fried. Zhimu (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae): 4 liang, honey-fried. Zhuang Niuxi (Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae): 4 liang, remove rhizome, wash with wine.
Grind all ingredients into fine powder. In spring and summer, use glutinous rice paste as a binder; in autumn and winter, use refined honey paste. First, pound the Hutaorou into a paste, mix evenly with the powder, and beat more than a thousand times. Form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 70-80 pills per dose on an empty stomach, administered with salted wine or salted decoction, followed by dry food to settle the medicine.
To treat lower back pain caused by cold-dampness stagnating Qi and Blood (Cold-Damp Stagnation of Qi and Blood).
Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, soaked in wine); Duzhong (Cortex Eucommiae, ginger-fried, silk removed, each 5 qian); Chi Shaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra); Baizhi (Radix Angelicae Dahuricae); Weilingxian (Herba Clematidis, each 3 qian); Rougui (Cortex Cinnamomi, 1 qian).
Decoct the above herbs in one cup of water and one cup of wine until one cup remains. Take on an empty stomach. Adding Qianghuo (Radix Notopterygii, 2 qian) and Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae, 1 qian) is also effective.
Headache (Headache) is often due to phlegm (Phlegm), but can also be caused by heat (Heat), wind (Wind), or blood deficiency (Blood Deficiency). This formula serves as the main prescription; add symptom-specific herbs for immediate effect. Pian Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae, wine-soaked and fried, 1.5 qian); Cangzhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Lanceae); Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae); Baizhi (Radix Angelicae Dahuricae); Qianghuo (Radix Notopterygii, each 1 qian); Xixin (Herba Asari, 6 fen).
Decoct the above with three slices of ginger in water. Take after meals with some delay. For left-sided headache due to wind and blood deficiency, add Chuanxiong (Radix Ligustici Chuanxiong) and Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, each 1.5 qian), Jingjie (Herba Schizonepetae) and Bohe (Herba Menthae, each 8 fen). For vertex headache due to phlegm, add Banxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae, 1.5 qian), Fuling (Poria), Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, each 1 qian), and Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae, raw, 3 fen). Thin individuals often have heat; double the Huangqin and add a small amount of Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum). Fat individuals often have damp-phlegm (Damp-Phlegm); add Chuanxiong (Radix Ligustici Chuanxiong), Tian Nanxing (Rhizoma Arisaematis, and Banxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae, each 1.5 qian), and double Cangzhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Lanceae)). For headache due to phlegm-jue (Phlegm-Jue), only Banxia can resolve dizziness and blurred vision; for internal wind-deficiency, only Tianma (Rhizoma Gastrodiae) can cure it. Both should be used in doubled doses.
Tested repeatedly with miraculous efficacy, surpassing all other formulas.
Mahuang (Herba Ephedrae, 3 liang, roots removed, nodes retained, stir-fried yellow); Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus, 3 liang, stir-fried and powdered); Moyao (Resina Myrrhae); Ruxiang (Resina Olibani, separately ground, each 5 qian); Dingxiang (Flos Caryophylli, 1 qian).
Grind each ingredient separately into powder, mix evenly. Take 1 liang per dose, mixed with good wine. Induce drunken sweating until sweat reaches the feet. Cover up and wait for sweat to dry; the illness will be cured. Afterwards, wash feet with Wuzhi Tang (Five Branches Decoction). Decoct tender branches of peach, willow, plum, locust, and mulberry trees. Drink three cups of good wine first, then wash feet for optimal pain relief.
