The reason for this is that wind-dispelling herbs can already overcome dampness; therefore, it is prepared as a separate dose for administration.
Shoulder and back pain, sweating, frequent urination with scanty volume: this is wind-heat invading the Lung, causing severe stagnation of Lung Qi. It should be cured by purging wind-heat; Tongqi Fangfeng Tang (Ventilation Wind-Proof Powder) is the primary formula.

For shoulder and back pain so severe that turning the head is impossible: this is due to stagnation and non-circulation of Qi in the Hand-Taiyang meridian; disperse it with wind-dispelling herbs. For spinal pain, neck stiffness, sensation of waist breaking, and sensation of neck being pulled: this is due to non-circulation of the Foot-Taiyang meridian; Qianghuo Shengshi Tang (Notopterygium Overcoming Dampness Decoction) is the primary formula.
Qianghuo (Radix Notopterygii), Duohuo (Radix Angelicae Pubescentis) (above, each 1 qian), Gaoben (Rhizoma Ligustici), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae, honey-fried), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong) (above, each 5 fen), Manjingzi (Fructus Viticis) (3 fen).

If there is heaviness of the body and a heavy sensation in the waist, indicating cold-dampness in the meridians, add Hanfangji (Radix Stephaniae Tetrandrae) washed in wine (5 fen). For mild cases, use Fuzi (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata) (5 fen); for severe cases, use Chuanwu (Radix Aconiti Kusnezoffii) (5 fen).
Treats conditions caused by irregular diet and injury from overwork, leading to fullness and oppression in the abdomen and hypochondrium, and shortness of breath. In spring, the mouth tastes bland and flavorless; in summer, despite the heat, there is still aversion to cold; when hungry, one feels as if full and dislikes cold foods.

For syndromes of Spleen and Stomach deficiency, one must use Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae) and Chaihu (Radix Bupleuri), which are bitter, neutral, and have thin flavors. They belong to Yang within Yin and guide the clear Qi of the Spleen and Stomach into the Yang pathways and various meridians, generating the Qi of Yin and Yang to nourish the harmony of Spring Qi. Furthermore, they guide the sweet-warm aromas of Huangqi (Radix Astragali), Renshen (Radix Ginseng), and Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) upward to fill the interstices (Couli), allowing the Wei Qi (Defensive Qi) to protect the exterior and maintain solidity.
This is why most herbs treating the Spleen and Stomach are named "Shengyang Buqi" (Raising Yang and Replenishing Qi).
Crush the above ingredients. Take 3 qian per dose. Add two zhan of water and three slices of Shengjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens). Decoct until one zhan remains, remove the dregs, and take it warm before meals.
