Euphorbiae Pekinensis Radix (Daji), Genkwa Flos (Wuhua), Kansui Radix (Gansui), and Sargassum (Haizao) in equal parts are ground into fine powder. Mix with thick vinegar and flour paste, spread the medicine on cotton paper, apply to the swollen area, and wrap with soft cotton.
(This formula) is miraculous in removing all water-dampness and phlegm-fluid retention.
Kansui Radix (Gansui), Genkwa Flos (Yuanhua), Euphorbiae Pekinensis Radix (Daji) [each 1 liang, stir-fried with vinegar], Rheum Palmatum Rhizome (Dahuang) [2 liang], Black Pholiota Seed (Qian Niu) [head end powder, 4 liang], Qingpi (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus), Chenpi (Aurantii Fructus Pericarpium), Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang), Areca Seed (Binglang) [each 5 qian], Calomelas (Qingfen) [1 qian]. Grind into fine powder, make pills with water, size of Sichuan pepper seeds. Take 5 pills on an empty stomach, three times a day. For patients with chest stuffiness, taking too much may cause irritability and fullness; it is advisable to start with 5 pills initially, increasing by 5 pills per dose until loose stools occur. Dai Ren (Zhang Congzheng) usually instructed patients to first take over a hundred grains, followed by administering Xunchuan San (Junning Decoction) and other medicines. Bowel movements should occur at wu geng (3-5 AM), expelling various pathogens. Mild cases resolve after one or two evacuations, severe cases after five or six. Although the medication is harsh and urgent, its efficacy is extremely miraculous. For weak constitutions, follow Hejian's method of gradual dosage increase; for strong constitutions, follow Dai Ren's method.
Rheum Palmatum Rhizome (Dahuang) [roasted], Pholiota Seed (Qianniu) [head end powder], Prunus Armeniaca Seed (Yuliren) [each 1 liang], Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang) [2 qian], Mirabilite (Mangxiao) [3 qian], Kansui Radix (Gansui) [5 fen].
Various dampnesses originate from Earth; fire and heat can generate damp Earth. Thus, summer heat brings dampness, while autumn coolness brings dryness. Examining Dai Ren's treatment methods: assuming Liver Wood overacts on Spleen Earth, and Spleen Earth cannot withstand Liver Wood, it seeks relief from its son organ. Ji Earth (Spleen) generates Geng Metal (Lung). Pungent flavors belong to Metal. Using large amounts of Ginger (Shengjiang) to suppress Liver Wood, yet without opening the Spleen Earth's pathway, dampness cannot circulate. First use Zhouche Wan (Boat Cart Pill) to unblock the obstructed pathways, purging what it does not overcome (Liver Wood); then use ginger juice to mix and administer Xunchuan San (Junning Decoction) for vigorous purging, which purges what it overcomes (Spleen Earth dampness). Dai Ren often stated that after Daoshui Wan (Water Guiding Pill), Yugong San must follow; after Danche Wan, Xunchuan San must follow.
Treat cold-dampness Shui Han (Water Hernia), characterized by scrotal swelling, difficulty in urination and defecation, scrotum transparent like crystal, and continuous sweating from the genitals, known as Shui Han (Water Hernia). This likely results from sexual intercourse after drunkenness, where damp-heat enters due to Kidney deficiency. Obstruction of urination and defecation causes dampness to stagnate, transform into heat, and lead to distension and constipation.
Black Pholiota Seed (Qian Niu) [4 liang], Fennel Fruit (Huixiang) [1 liang, stir-fried]. Grind into powder. Take 1 qian each time, mixed with ginger juice. Alternatively, add 1 liang of Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang). This targets the Foot Shaoyin Kidney Meridian and Foot Taiyang Bladder Meridian. Qian Niu is pungent and acrid, reaching the Right Kidney Mingmen Gate, traversing the spermatic channel to move water, drain dampness, and simultaneously relieve wind-type and qi-type constipation in the Large Intestine. Huixiang is pungent and hot, warming and dispersing, capable of warming the Dantian and dispelling cold qi in the Small Intestine. Together they enter the Lower Jiao to expel Yin pathogens.
