Treats all kinds of carbuncles and sores, as well as various swelling toxins. It has the effects of disinfecting, clearing heat-toxins (heat-toxic factors) from the body, and removing necrotic tissue. For any ulcer that has broken open, this prescription must be used for washing.
Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Chishao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Chuan Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Sheng Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Fengfang (Vespa Crabro Nest) (must select nests with bees present, equal parts).
First, take two front trotters of a pig weighing about one jin, add three sheng of clear water, and boil until soft. Divide the broth into two portions. Clarify it, removing the oil on the surface and the meat residue. For each use, add one liang of herbs to the broth. Boil over mild or strong fire for more than ten boils. Strain out the dregs. Dip old cotton in the decoction, warm it, and gently wipe the sore. Necrotic flesh and foul blood will discharge with the broth. After cleaning, dry with cotton. Avoid wind. Do not allow breath to blow on it, nor exposure to people with body odor or menstruating women.
Bai Furong Ye (Malvae Folium) (two liang, dried in shade without frost is best), Wubeizi (Galla Chinensis), Baiji (Bletillae Rhizoma), Balian (Ampelopsis Radix) (each four qian), Sheng Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) (six qian).
Grind all together into fine powder. Mix with a small amount of egg white and vinegar to apply externally. If it dries, moisten with scallion head wine. If the sore has already formed a head, expose the head and apply only around the periphery for best effect.
Another method for detoxification and containment:
Stir-fry white glutinous rice until charred, grind into fine powder. Mix with vinegar and apply to the affected area. If pus is present, it will promote suppuration; if no pus, it will resolve the swelling.
Xionghuang (Realgar), Zhusha (Cinnabaris), Xuejie (Santalum Album Resina), Moyao (Myrrha), (each one qian), Shexiang (Moschus) (two fen). All ground into fine powder. Make paper rolls using cotton paper. Each roll uses three fen of medicine. Moisten with sesame oil and ignite. Hold about half an cun away from the sore, slowly fumigating the surrounding area. The medicinal qi penetrates, dispersing the toxin so it does not invade the internal organs. Initially use three rolls, gradually increasing to six or seven. As the heat of the sore subsides, gradually reduce the number. After fumigation, immediately apply the external dressing.
Used to intercept severe carbuncles and sores in critical locations, preventing the toxin from attacking internally, without applying caustic substances.
Take four liang of high-quality raw gelatin skin glue. Add one bowl of wine. Heat the glue in a double boiler until melted. Stir evenly and pour out. Add more wine. Drink freely until satisfied. For those with good alcohol tolerance, drink until drunk. This method has saved many lives.
Treats brain carbuncle and back carbuncle, pain after ulceration and rupture.
Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Sheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix), Baishaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Huangqi (Astragali Radix), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Zhi Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma prepared with honey), Guanzi Gui (Cinnamomi Ramulus) (each one liang). Decoct in water and take orally.
This formula acts on the Foot Yangming and Foot Jueyin meridians. Danggui and Sheng Dihuang invigorate blood and cool blood; Renshen and Huangqi tonify qi and supplement the middle; Guanzi Gui resolves toxicity and promotes suppuration. When the toxin transforms into pus, the pain gradually stops; Shaoyao harmonizes the spleen, and its sour nature astringes; Gancao supports the stomach, and its sweet nature moderates urgency. Thus, the pain naturally diminishes.
