Another method: use Wubeizi (Galla Chinensis, 五倍子) ground into powder. Take 2 qian each time, add Baifan (Alumen, 白矾), decoct with water, and wash. Yet another method: use Muzei (Equiseti Herba, 木贼), burn to ash but retain its properties, grind into powder, apply to the anus, and press manually for cure.
Another prescription
Fuping (Lemnae Herba, 浮萍) ground into powder, apply dry. Another method: use Chenbi Tu (Old Wall Earth, 陈壁土) soaked in water, fumigate first, then wash.
One formula
Use Huaihua (Sophorae Flos, 槐花) and Huaijiao (Stemonae Rhizoma, 槐角) in equal parts, stir-fry until yellow, grind into powder. Dip mutton in the powder, roast until hot, and eat, washed down with wine. Alternatively, use Pigbiao (Subcutaneous Fat of Sus Scrofa Domestica, 猪膘) peeled of skin, dip in powder, roast, and eat.
Zhi (Hemorrhoids) refers to sores arising beside the anus with swelling and pain. There are also cases where sores develop holes, discharge foul fluid that does not dry, forming Lou (Anal Fistula). These are all caused by the mother consuming alcohol, wheat products, and fried/roasted foods during pregnancy, which the fetus inherits; or due to improper postnatal care, heat accumulating in the Heart Meridian, transmitting to the Lung, and pouring into the Large Intestine. It is suitable to internally administer blood-cooling and detoxifying agents, and externally use fumigation and washing.
There are five names for Zhi Lou: Mu Zhi (Male Hemorrhoid), Pin Zhi (Female Hemorrhoid), Qi Zhi (Qi Hemorrhoid), Xue Zhi (Blood Hemorrhoid), Jiu Zhi (Wine Hemorrhoid). There are also Changfeng Zhi (Intestinal Wind Hemorrhoid), Mai Zhi (Vascular Hemorrhoid), and Cixiong Zhi (Yin-Yang Hemorrhoid); these are all aliases of the Five Hemorrhoids. Initially appearing at the anal verge, resembling mouse teats, or forming small nodules with itching, pain, and distension. Severe cases present with aversion to cold. All are caused by sexual exhaustion, excessive drinking, long-term indulgence in sweet and fatty foods without caution, intercourse while drunk or full, disturbing Yin and Yang, disrupting blood vessels and bowels, leading to leakage and rushing downward. The treatment method is: upon initial sensation, take Qinjiao (Gentianae Radix, 秦艽), Huaijiao (Stemonae Rhizoma, 槐角), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus, 连翘), Tubei (Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus, 土贝), etc., and externally use fumigation and washing to achieve internal resolution. If one continues to indulge desires, it will lead to rotting, ulceration, pus and blood retention for a long time, perforating side channels, transforming into Lou (Anal Fistula). At this stage, one must tonify Qi and Blood, and carefully regulate lifestyle to gradually achieve efficacy.
The source of Zhi Lou is Dryness Qi causing disease. The manifestation is Damp-Heat. Due to excess alcohol and sex, Dampness generates Heat, filling the Zang-Fu organs, overflowing into meridians, and sinking into the Gut Dao (Anus). Conflicting left and right forms Zhi. Although symptoms appear in the Large Intestine, it is actually caused by Yin Deficiency and Fire Excess. As stated in the *Classic*: "Opens into the two yin orifices," prolonged illness leads to ulceration and formation of Lou. However, Zhi is mild and Lou is severe; Zhi is Excess and Lou is Deficient. Treating Zhi involves merely cooling blood and clearing heat. Treating Lou initially involves cooling blood, clearing heat, and drying dampness; later, it involves astringing orifices and killing parasites, combined with warming and dispersing. Some say: Fire is the root of Zhi Lou, why use warming and astringent drugs? Little do they know that Zhi only involves bleeding, always remaining Heat; Lou discharges pus and water, initially Damp-Heat, ultimately Damp-Cold. Without warming drugs, how can one dispel dampness and scatter cold? Not just Zhi Lou, many diseases start with Heat and end with Cold. For example, diarrhea and vomiting: initially, stomach and intestinal Qi Excess causes Heat; later, Stomach and Intestinal Qi Deficiency causes Cold. Danxi states in the section on Lower Bleeding: For lower bleeding that does not heal for a long time, subsequently use warming agents. This is exactly the meaning.
The Hand-Yangming Large Intestine belongs to Geng Metal. Clear Dryness governs contraction, manages fluid circulation, following the transformation of Foot-Yangming Stomach Earth. When prosperous, it generates and transforms all things. If people engage in intercourse after overeating and drinking, leaving alcohol heat inside, restraining semen emission, flow gathers in the Cu Jian (Perineum). Qi from the anterior yin returns to the Large Intestine. Wood takes advantage of Fire's momentum to insult Dryness Metal. Fire follows Dryness, causing constipation and the onset of hemorrhoids. The pathogenic factor received is Dryness Qi. The disease-causing factor is Stomach Dampness. Therefore, Dongyuan said: Intestinal mass formation is due to Dampness. Severe pain is due to Wind. Dry stool binding is due to combined Fire-Heat. Thus, Damp-Heat, Wind, and Dryness, four pathogens combining, the method should be to purge fire, moisten dryness, disperse wind, harmonize blood, and relieve pain. This is its treatment.
Lou Chuang (Anal Fistula Sores) must first be treated with tonifying medicines to generate Qi and Blood, using Renshen (Ginseng Radix, 人参), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 白术), [missing character], Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 川芎), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 当归) as main ingredients, taken in large doses. Subsequently, use Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, 附子) powder mixed with saliva to form cakes as thick as coins. Apply moxibustion: large lou gets large moxa cones, small lou gets small cones. Moxa until slightly warm, do not cause pain. When dry, replace cake and moxa again, until healed. Moxa again the next day, until flesh levels out for effect. Some also use Fupian (Prepared Aconite Slice) for moxibustion, still using the previous tonifying agent made into a plaster for application, which is excellent. For early-stage Zhi Lou, use Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, 黄芩) and Lian (Scutellariae Radix/Coptidis Rhizoma, 黄连) to cool the Large Intestine, Zhike (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, 枳壳) to widen the Large Intestine, and for astringing orifices, use Chishizhi (Halloysitum Rubrum, 赤石脂), Baishizhi (Halloysitum Album, 白石脂), Kufan (Alumen Exsiccatum, 枯矾), Huangdan (Minium, 黄丹), Naobing (Borneolum Syntheticum, 脑子/冰片), etc.
