Chu Adah (a male water porter, onset in July) The red rash is emerging outwardly; there is an excess of phlegm-fire in the Lung and Stomach. Symptoms include high fever, epigastric oppression, mental restlessness, thirst, and a wiry, slippery, and rapid pulse. Treatment should focus on clearing and resolving Yangming [the Stomach channel], with the attached prescription submitted for correction.
Niuhuang Qingxin Wan (Calculus Bovis Heart-Clearing Pill) Qiaoliao (Forsythiae Fructum) Danpi (Moutan Cortex) Zhuli (Bamboo Sap) Xian Xi Shichangpu Gen (Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii, fresh, 1.5 qian, crushed for juice and mixed) Lugeng (Phragmitis Rhizoma) Zixue Dan (Purple Snow Pill) Niubangzi (Arctii Fructum) Chun Neng Gouteng (Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis, pure and tender) Beimu (Fritillariae Bulbus) Lingjiao Pian (Rhinocerotis Cornu, sliced) Qinghao (Artemisiae Annuae Herba) Xian Hu (Dendrobii Caulis, fresh) Cheqiancao (Plantaginis Herba)
Note: Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu) can expel pathogens from Shaoyin and Yangming, making it a crucial herb for treating rashes. Niuhuang Qingxin Wan clears phlegm-fire from the Pericardium, which suits heat syndromes, but it is not its strong suit for treating rashes.
Wan (Left side/Left pulse, onset in August) Yangming blood-heat pervading the body causes purple macules to erupt. There is incessant bleeding from the gums, unsatisfactory bowel movements, dark urine, physical fatigue, internal heat, and a wiry, surging, and rapid pulse. Treatment should clear and resolve Yangming, employing the method of searching out latent pathogens.
Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix) Daqingye (Isatidis Folium) Renzhonghuang (Human Excrement Yellow) Chuan Yujin (Curcumae Radix) Da Zhuye (Bambusae Folium) Xijiao Jian (Rhinocerotis Cornu, tip) Danpi (Moutan Cortex) Qiaoliao (Forsythiae Fructum) Hei Jingjie (Schizonepetae Spica, blackened) Xian Shengdi Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Recens) Chishao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra) Jing Yinjin (Chrysanthemi Indici Flos) Tianchong (Bombyx Batryticatus)
Note: Qingtui Yagan (Green Leg and Gingival Ulceration) is also suitable for this formula; adding Mabo (Cordyceps Militaris fruiting body) and Bohe Nao (Menthae Haplocalycis Semen) and drinking it will lead to recovery. For details of this syndrome, refer to "Waike Jinjian" and "Wu Yi Hui Jiang".
Cao (17 years old, onset on February 24th) Spring-warmth transforming into macules, faint and not fully emerging. Phlegm-fire reverses from the Lung and Stomach into the Ying (Nutrient) level of the Heart. Heat damages body fluids, causing coma, delirious speech, twitching of fingers, dry and cracked lips and teeth with bleeding, scorched and dry tongue coating with red edges, and a wiry, slippery, and rapid pulse. Combining pulse with symptoms, one must carefully guard against the danger of phlegm rising and internal closure. A clearing and resolving method is proposed for observation. Please decide at your discretion.

You Zuojian, diagnosed by Dr. Jiang Xingquan (Onset in August) Latent summer-heat erupts internally, new coolness binds externally. Pathogens affect the Shaoyang from the dry Lung and Stomach. Initially, alternating chills and fever occur like tides; subsequently, high fever and mental confusion arise, accompanied by irritability, thirst, and excessive drinking. There is chest and epigastric distress, a wiry, rapid, and slippery pulse, enlarged pulses at both Chi positions, short and rapid pulses at both Guan positions, yellow and greasy tongue coating, cold limbs, closed and dim eyes, loose stools, and scanty urination. Combining pulse with symptoms, we fear that pathogen stagnation may fail to emerge, leading to upper collapse and lower exhaustion. A method of lifting Yangming and dispersing/resolving is proposed. Is this correct? The attached prescription is submitted for expert review.
Lingyang Pian (Capris Cornu, sliced) Gegen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix) Chuan Yujin (Curcumae Radix) Chaixue Dan (Bupleuri et Scutellariae Snow Pill, 3 fen, mixed) Zhuru (Bambusae Caulis in Taenia) Qiaoliao (Forsythiae Fructum) Zhi Chuanpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, processed) Tongcao (Tetrapanacis Medulla) Yinhua Lu (Lonicerae Japonicae Infusum) Bohe Geng (Menthae Haplocalycis Caulis) Xinhui Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) Yiyuan San (Benefit Origin Powder) Cheqiancao (Plantaginis Herba)
After taking one dose, white rashes turned red and emerged. Zixue Dan was replaced with Jinhu (Dendrobii Caulis).
