The acupoints of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian begin with Shangyang (LI1, 商阳), followed by Erjian (LI2, 二间), Sanjian (LI3, 三间), and Hegu (LI4, 合谷). Yangxi (LI5, 阳溪), Pianli (LI6, 偏历), and Wenliu (LI7, 温溜) are arranged in sequence, while Xialian (LI8, 下廉), Shanglian (LI9, 上廉), and Shousanli (LI10, 手三里) extend further. Quchi (LI11, 曲池) is located at the elbow, followed by Zhoulaо (LI12, 肘髎), Wuli (LI13, 五里), Binao (LI14, 臂臑), Jianyu (LI15, 肩髃), and Jugu (LI16, 巨骨). Tianding (LI17, 天鼎) and Futu (LI18, 扶突) connect to Heliao (LI19, 禾髎), ending with Yingxiang (LI20, 迎香), totaling twenty acupoints.
Shangyang (LI1) is located on the medial border of the index finger; Erjian (LI2) can be found in the depression anterior to the proximal interphalangeal joint of the finger; Sanjian (LI3) is taken in the depression posterior to the proximal interphalangeal joint; Hegu (LI4) is located in the depression between the first and second metacarpal bones (the "tiger's mouth"). Yangxi (LI5) is situated in the depression between the two tendons on the radial side of the wrist, accessible by abducting the thumb and index finger; Pianli (LI6) is located three cun proximal to the wrist crease; Wenliu (LI7) is five cun proximal to the wrist crease; Xialian (LI8) is five cun proximal to Quchi (LI11); Shanglian (LI9) is three cun proximal to Quchi (LI11); and Shousanli (LI10) is two cun proximal to Quchi (LI11). Quchi (LI11) is at the lateral end of the transverse cubital crease when the elbow is flexed; Zhoulaо (LI12) is near the lateral aspect of the olecranon; Wuli (LI13) is located three cun proximal to the elbow, towards the center of the major artery; Binao (LI14) is seven cun proximal to the elbow; Jianyu (LI15) is at the shoulder tip, taken with the arm raised; Jugu (LI16) is in the depression between the clavicle and scapula, superior to the shoulder tip. Tianding (LI17) is four cun lateral to the throat; Futu (LI18) is three cun lateral to Tiantu (CV22); Heliao (LI19) is five fen lateral to Shuigou (GV26); and Yingxiang (LI20) is one cun superior to Heliao (LI19) and five fen lateral to the nostril. The distribution of the Large Intestine Meridian acupoints is clear and distinct.
[Note] Shangyang (LI1) is located at the medial corner of the nail of the index finger, approximately the width of a leek leaf from the nail angle. Following the upper margin of the index finger from Shangyang (LI1), the depression medial to the proximal interphalangeal joint contains Erjian (LI2). Following the finger from Erjian (LI2) to the depression medial to the proximal interphalangeal joint posteriorly lies Sanjian (LI3). From Sanjian (LI3), moving into the depression between the first and second metacarpal bones (Qi Gu) is Hegu (LI4). From Hegu (LI4), moving to the radial side of the wrist, in the depression between the two tendons, obtained by abducting the thumb and index finger, is Yangxi (LI5). Ascending three cun proximal to the wrist from Yangxi (LI5) is Pianli (LI6). Ascending three cun from Pianli (LI6) is Wenliu (LI7). Ascending two cun and five fen from Wenliu (LI7), where the muscle belly divides, is Xialian (LI8). Ascending one cun from Xialian (LI8) is Shanglian (LI9). Ascending one cun from Shanglian (LI9), at the apex of the muscle belly where pressure causes the muscle to rise, is Shousanli (LI10). Ascending two cun from Shousanli (LI10), with arms crossed over the chest and elbow flexed, the depression at the lateral end of the transverse cubital crease is Quchi (LI11). Ascending from Quchi (LI11) to the depression lateral to the greater tubercle of the humerus is Zhoulaо (LI12). Following Zhoulaо (LI12) three cun proximal to the elbow, towards the center of the major artery, is Wuli (LI13). Ascending four cun from Wuli (LI13), in the depression between two tendons and two bones, obtained by extending the arm and holding it level, is Binao (LI14). Ascending from Binao (LI14) to the bone, in the depression between the two bones at the top of the shoulder tip, obtained with the arm raised, is Jianyu (LI15). Ascending from Jianyu (LI15) to the end of the arm, in the depression between the bifurcated bones, is Jugu (LI16). Following the neck from Jugu (LI16), straight up from Quepen (ST12) to one cun inferior to Futu (LI18) is Tianding (LI17). Ascending straight up from Tianding (LI17) to one cun inferior to the curve of the jaw, one cun and five fen posterior to Renying (ST9), obtained with the head tilted back, is Futu (LI18). Passing through the cheek from Futu (LI18) directly below the nostril, five fen lateral to Shuigou (GV26), is Heliao (LI19). One cun superior to Heliao (LI19), five fen lateral to the nostril, is Yingxiang (LI20).
