Gallbladder corresponds to Jia, Liver to Yi, Small Intestine to Bing, Heart to Ding, Stomach to Wu, Spleen to Ji, Large Intestine to Geng, Lung to Xin, Bladder to Ren, Kidney to Gui. The Yang Fu organ of Sanjiao (Triple Burner) must be assigned to Bing, while the Pericardium follows Yin and is associated with Ding Fire. Yang Heavenly Stems represent Exterior and Fu organs, Yin Heavenly Stems represent Interior and Zang organs; thus, the interior-exterior relationships of Zang and Fu organs are matched with Yin and Yang.
[Commentary] Old texts stated: Sanjiao also resides in Ren, and the Pericardium returns to Gui. However, Sanjiao is the official of dredging (responsible for water passages), so it can be said to belong to Ren, but the Pericardium attaches to the Heart Master, how can it be said to belong to Gui? Moreover, the interior-exterior relationship of these two organs both involves Ministerial Fire, hence this correction was made.
[Annotation] Jia, Bing, Wu, Geng, and Ren are Yang Heavenly Stems; Yi, Ding, Ji, Xin, and Gui are Yin Heavenly Stems. Yang stems represent the Exterior and Fu organs, while Yin stems represent the Interior and Zang organs. Therefore, it is said that the interior-exterior pairing of Zang and Fu organs corresponds to Yin and Yang.
At Yin hour daily, circulation begins from the Lung; at Mao hour, it flows into the Large Intestine Meridian. Chen hour belongs to the Stomach, Si hour to the Spleen, Wu hour to Heart Fire, Wei hour should note the Small Intestine Meridian. Shen hour belongs to the Bladder, You hour to the Kidney, Xu hour moves to the Pericardium, Hai hour to the Palace of Sanjiao. Zi hour to Gallbladder, Chou hour to Liver, Yin hour again to Lung; the Twelve Meridians circulate continuously.
[Annotation] Humans have twelve meridians, and there are twelve double-hours in a day and night, each meridian governing one double-hour. It starts first at Yin hour entering the Lung Meridian, Mao hour enters the Large Intestine, Chen hour enters the Stomach, Si hour enters the Spleen, Wu hour enters the Heart, Wei hour enters the Small Intestine, Shen hour enters the Bladder, You hour enters the Kidney, Xu hour enters the Pericardium, Hai hour enters the Sanjiao, Zi hour enters the Gallbladder, Chou hour enters the Liver, and upon reaching Yin hour, it starts again from the Lung. This is the cycle where the twelve meridians and twelve double-hours circulate mutually.
Lung, Large Intestine, Stomach, Spleen, Heart, Small Intestine; Bladder, Kidney, Pericardium, Sanjiao, Gallbladder, Liver follow. Hand Yin connects to Zang organs, Hand Yang connects to the head; Foot Yin connects to the abdomen, Foot Yang connects from head to foot.
[Annotation] The human body has exactly twelve regular meridians. At dawn during the Yin hour, Ying Qi (nutritive qi circulating within the vessels) begins in the Middle Jiao, flows upward into the Hand Taiyin Lung Meridian, exits from the chest at Zhongfu (LU-1), reaches Shaoshang (LU-11), and proceeds sequentially through the Hand Yangming Large Intestine Meridian and the other ten meridians, finally arriving at the Foot Jueyin Liver Meridian, then restarting from the Hand Taiyin Lung Meridian. All three Hand Yin meridians travel from the Zang organs to the hands; all three Hand Yang meridians travel from the hands to the head; all three Foot Yin meridians travel from the feet to the abdomen; all three Foot Yang meridians travel from the head to the feet. They flow endlessly in a continuous, unbroken cycle.
