Ru Yong (Breast Abscess) refers to redness, swelling, heat, and pain in the breast accompanied by suppuration; the condition resolves once the pus is discharged. In the initial stage, it is appropriate to take Gualou San (Trichosanthes Powder) and apply Xiangfu Bing (Cyperus Compress), which can dissipate the swelling immediately. If the abscess has already formed, Taiyi Gao (Great One Ointment) should be applied externally. If the ulcer is open and rotting, Haifu San (Sea Floating Powder) should be sprinkled on it, followed by an external plaster application; the condition will heal spontaneously once the pus is absorbed.
Ru Yan (Breast Rock/Cancer) initially presents as a small nodule inside the breast, resembling a chess piece. Over time, it gradually enlarges and eventually breaks down, exhibiting a hard, uneven texture like rock, hence the name Ru Yan. It is appropriate to take Xiaoyao San (Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) and Guipi Tang (Restore the Spleen Decoction). Although this disease may not be completely curable, life can be prolonged; however, reckless use of attacking methods will hasten the danger.
Gualou (one fruit), Ming Ruxiang (Clear Frankincense, two qian); decoct with wine for oral administration.
For applying to Ru Yan, it dissipates immediately; it is suitable for all types of carbuncles and swellings.
Xiangfu (finely powdered, one liang), Shexiang (Musk, two fen).
Grind the above two ingredients evenly. Boil two liang of Pugnongying (Dandelion) in wine, strain the residue, mix the medicine with the wine, and apply hot compress to the affected area.
To treat all types of carbuncles, ulcers, swellings, and toxic sores, this formula is extremely effective in promoting pus discharge.
Rougui (Cinnamon Bark, one qian five fen), Baizhi (Angelica Dahurica), Danggui (Chinese Angelica Root), Xuanshen (Scrophularia Root), Chishao (Red Peony Root), Shengdi (Rehmannia Root), Dahuang (Rhubarb Root), Tumuie (Euphorbia Lathyris Seed), each five qian; Ruxiang (Frankincense, powdered, two qian), Moyao (Myrrh, powdered, two qian), Awei (Asafoetida, one qian), Qingfen (Calomel, one qian five fen), Xuyü (Burnt Human Hair, one clump), Huangdan (Lead Tetroxide, six liang five qian).
Soak the above herbs in one jin of pure sesame oil. Soaking duration: five days in spring, three days in summer, seven days in autumn, ten days in winter. Pour into a pot and simmer over mild and strong fire until the herbs become dry and float to the surface. Let stand off heat for a moment, then filter out the dregs using a cloth bag. Clean the pot thoroughly, return the oil, add Xuyü and continue boiling. Observe with a willow twig; when the hair becomes dry and floats, it is considered sufficiently boiled. For every jin of purified oil, slowly add six liang five qian of stir-fried Huangdan while stirring constantly. Wait until green smoke appears first, followed by layers of white smoke rising in rotation; the ointment is now ready. Test the consistency by dropping the ointment into water; when it reaches the optimal softness, remove from heat. Place the Awei San paste on the surface, wait until fully melted, then add Ruxiang, Moyao, and Qingfen, stir evenly, pour into water, and knead into a single mass using a willow stick.
