The abdomen frequently experiences upward rushing of Qi. When Shaoyin (Note: Text says Jueyin, but context implies general transmission or specific Jueyin heat pattern) syndrome transmits to the Jueyin meridian, symptoms such as excessive thirst and Qi rushing up to the heart appear; this is a Heat pattern. As the classics state: "All rebellious Qi rushing upward belongs to Fire." If the condition resembles the Guizhi Tang pattern, but there is no headache or stiffness in the neck, the cun pulse is slightly floating, there is a sensation of fullness and hardness in the chest, Qi rushes up to the throat causing difficulty in breathing, this indicates Phlegm-fluid retention in the chest (Note: The character 'Han' [Cold] in the original text should be interpreted as 'Tan' [Phlegm]). Treatment should involve emesis, and Gouti San is appropriate.

If you feel the urge to vomit, endure it for a while, then allow vomiting after some time. If vomiting does not occur, administer another dose as previously described, and induce vomiting by stimulating the throat with a finger. If vomiting does not occur even after a long time, drink one sheng of hot water to assist the medicinal power. After vomiting, food can be consumed.
