Mahuang Fuzi Xixin Tang (Ephedra, Aconite, and Asarum Decoction)
(Condition Note: Cold in both exterior and interior) When Shaoyin disease presents with fever and a deep pulse, Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba) should be used to release the exterior; it is appropriate to combine with Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata) to warm the cold and rescue the interior, while Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) descends rebellious Qi, yielding particularly remarkable efficacy.
Mahuang Fuzi Gancao Tang (Ephedra, Aconite, and Licorice Decoction)
(Condition Note: Cold in both exterior and interior) When pathogenic factors have entered the Shaoyin stage for two or three days, one should be proficient in using Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba) to induce slight sweating; combined with Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata) which can warm the interior, Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) is used to harmonize the middle Jiao.
(Cold in the interior with excessive water retention; Formula see Sunyang Damaged Disease) The key to distinguishing Shaoyin disease must be detailed: a deep pulse and excessive water dampness extinguish residual Yang. The treatment principle prioritizes warming the interior; for emergency rescue, Sini Tang (Frigid Extremities Decoction) is appropriate.
(Cold in the interior with deficiency of Spleen Earth) When hands and feet are cold indicating entry into Shaoyin, accompanied by unbearable bone and joint pain, the single thread of residual Yang lacks vitality, and the pulse is faint and exclusively deep.
(Cold in the interior with deficiency of Spleen Earth) Within one or two days, the disease is in Shaoyin; the mouth is normal but the back feels cold invasion. Moxibustion should be performed first, followed by herbal medicine; the treatment methods are subtle and profound in meaning.
Fuzi Tang (Aconite Decoction)
Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata) supports Yang, Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) nourishes Yin. For deficiency, Qìbǔ (Tonifying Qi) is indicated using Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma); Fuling (Poria) and Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) specifically cultivate Earth. This excellent formula has profound significance.
Gancao Jiegeng Er Tang (Licorice and Platycodon Two Decoctions)
(Condition Note: Interior heat rising causing sore throat) Within two or three days, the condition persists as pathogens enter Shaoyin causing throat pain. Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) alone is urgently appropriate; if not cured, add Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix) for further decoction.
Banxia San Ji Tang (Pinellia Powder and Decoction)
(Condition Note: Interior Yin rebellion causing sore throat) When Shaoyin disease causes critical sore throat, Gui Zhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus) drives out turbidity and eliminates pathogens; Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) descends rebellious Qi, and Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) relieves urgency. Both decoction and powder forms are suitable.
Kuju Tang (Bitter Wine Decoction)
(Condition Note: Sore throat with sores) Shaoyin disease involves sore throat and ulceration; Kuju Tang (Bitter Wine Decoction) is appropriate for decocting to reduce swelling. Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) descending rebellious Qi is truly a wonderful product, and Jiqing (Ovi Album) benefiting the lungs is an excellent prescription.
Zhufu Tang (Pig Skin Decoction)
(Condition Note: Sore throat, chest fullness, and irritability) Diarrhea with sore throat is severe; irritability and chest fullness cause unrest. Zhufu (Sus Ferula Cutis), Rice Flour, and Honey are added to moisten dryness, clear Metal (Lungs), and stop slippery diarrhea.
(Cold in the interior with retained fluid retention; Formula see Sunyang Damaged Disease) When pathogenic excess fills the chest causing dry retching, one must know that emesis and purgation are generally inappropriate. If there is cold fluid retention above the diaphragm, Sini Tang (Frigid Extremities Decoction) warming the middle can treat it.
