The above nine ingredients are ground into fine powder, boiled with the three juices into a paste, mixed, and formed into pills the size of a chestnut. They are coated with Zhusha (Cinnabar). Take one pill before meals, chew thoroughly, and swallow with warm wine; rice drink is also acceptable.
Huangqi Dangshen Renshen Tang (Astragalus, Codonopsis, and Ginseng Decoction, by Li Dongyuan): Treats women with sudden and profuse uterine bleeding (menorrhagia). Initially caused by physical damage and blood loss, subsequent periods were delayed by ten days each time, eventually leading to continuous profuse bleeding. This is likely due to a narrow-minded, irritable, and easily frightened constitution resulting in insufficient Heart Qi, combined with irregular diet. Examination reveals cold palms, a deep, fine, and slow pulse with a rapid element, dysfunction of the nine orifices, weakness in the four limbs, shortness of breath and急促 panting, irregular breathing from mouth and nose, weak Spleen and Stomach, pain in the epigastrium corresponding to the heart, contraction and tension in the left hypochondrium, pulsation at the umbilicus, borborygmus and flatus, and difficulty defecating. One should first treat the root cause; the other symptoms will resolve. Calm the mind and stabilize the spirit, harmonize the Spleen and Stomach, replenish Yuan Qi, nourish blood and spirit. Use a major heat-inducing formula to dispel cold, adding a small amount of Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix) to clear Mingmen (Gate of Life) ministerial fire, preventing flaccidity of the four limbs.
Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 2 fen) Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix, 3 fen) Chao Shenqu (Fried Medicated Leaven) Juhong (Tangerine Peel, white part removed) Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus, all 5 fen) Caodoukou (Cardamomi Fructus, 6 fen) Huangqi (Astragali Radix) Renshen (Ginseng Radix) Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, not removing joints, each 1 qian) Dangguishen (Angelicae Sinensis Radix body, 1.5 qian) Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum, 5 pieces, separately ground into paste).
Finely cut, as one dose. Add two and a half bowls of water. First decoct Mahuang until boiling, skim off the foam, decoct until two bowls remain. Add the remaining herbs and decoct together until one bowl remains. Take before meals; bleeding will stop immediately. Also use Caodoukou Wan (Cardamom Pills), fifteen pills, to relieve the cold pain in the deep epigastrium. Subsequently administer herbs for Liver accumulation to eliminate the root cause.
Danggui Shaoyao Tang (Angelica and Peony Decoction, by Li Dongyuan): Treats women with continuous dripping of menstrual blood, bright red in color, occurring during hot months. Initially due to overwork causing weak Spleen and Stomach, shortness of breath, rebellious Qi, spontaneous sweating, feverish oppression and confusion, loss of appetite, and lethargy in the four limbs with occasional diarrhea. Later, due to insufficient Heart Qi, menstrual blood flowed down profusely. There was slight downward movement of Qi, no more rebellious Qi, shortness of breath, and reluctance to speak. This formula is indicated.

Yiwei Shengyang Tang (Benefit Stomach and Raise Yang Decoction, by Li Dongyuan): Treats women with coagulated menstruation, black blood forming clots, blood masses in the left hypochondrium, continuous watery diarrhea, indigestion after eating, followed by sudden expulsion of blood clots along with watery diarrhea. This indicates that有形 (solid) blood has been exhausted in the lower jiao for a long time, yet menstruation remains irregular, with watery stools three to four times daily, postprandial vexation, reduced food intake, and emaciation. "Blood loss requires Qi tonification" is the method of ancient sages. First tonify Stomach Qi to assist the generating Qi. Thus it is said, "Yang generates Yin." Sweet herbs are prioritized because sweetness can generate blood, following the principle of Yang generating Yin. Grain Qi is the treasure of the human body, so regulating Stomach Qi is essential.

Shengyang Ju Jing Tang (Raise Yang and Lift Menstruation Decoction, by Li Dongyuan): Treats continuous menstruation. The Right Chi pulse is empty upon pressure, indicating exhaustion of both Qi and Blood, a major Cold syndrome. Light palpation reveals a rapid and hurried pulse; heavy pressure reveals a wiry, tight, or choppy pulse, all signs of Yang collapse. Ministerial Fire is also depleted. Heat symptoms appear in the mouth, nose, eyes, or thirst, indicating Yin restlessness and impending departure of Yang. Treatment should involve warming, lifting, raising, floating, and drying. This method greatly raises and floats Qi and Blood, supplementing the collapse below the Mingmen (Gate of Life).
