(《圣惠方》)
The young woman in the Jia household suffered from wind-induced itching. She was prescribed forty pills of Huangjing Wan (Polygonatum Pill). The formula consists of:
Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, 7 fen), Zhi Shi (Immature Bitter Orange, stir-fried), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix, 4 qian).
Divide into eight doses, decoct and take before meals.
For generalized wind-induced itching and urticaria (sudden onset of red papules with intense pruritus), Ling Xiao Hua (Campsis grandiflora flower) is ground into a fine powder, and one qian is taken with wine, resulting in immediate cessation of symptoms.
Bao Yunzhong, aged fifty, suffered from severe wind dan (erysipelas-like rash) with intense itching, mild abdominal pain, throat discomfort, and slight swelling of the face and body, persisting for five to six days without resolution. The pulse at both cun positions was slippery, large, and excess; the right pulse was floating and large, while the left pulse was floating, wiry, and small. A prescription of Chao Huang Qin (Stir-fried Scutellariae Radix), Chao Lian Qiao (Stir-fried Coptidis Rhizome - *Note: Text says 'Lian', likely Coptis*), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Xiong (Chuanxiong Rhizome), Shao Yao (Paeoniae Radix), Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix), Jie Geng (Platycodonis Radix), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix), Shu Nian Zi (Arctii Fructus/Burdock Fruit), and Zi Wei (Campsidis Flos/Ling Xiao Hua) each at one qian, along with Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) and Huang Qi (Astragali Radix) at half a qian, was used. After approximately five to six doses, the condition stabilized.
[Shi] Hejian Shenyou Wan (Divine Protection Pill). (Treats wind dan that recurs after recovery, or recurs after an interval of one month, or six months to a year. Administering Shenyou Wan to induce purgation is effective in every case. See the Water Swelling section for the formula.)
[Dan] A person suffered from wind dan with generalized itching, caused by alcohol consumption.
Fu Ping (Marpissae Herba, half liang), Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Huang Qi (Astragali Radix), Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, 3 qian), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 2 qian), Gan Ge (Puerariae Radix), Ma Huang (Ephedrae Herba, 1 qian), Sheng Gan Cao (Raw Glycyrrhizae Radix, half qian).
[Shi] Treatment for cold wind dan.
Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix), Bai Jiang Can (Bombyx Batryticatus), Chan Tui (Cicadae Periostracum), Chuan Xiong (Chuanxiong Rhizome), Bai Zhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Fu Ling (Poria), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Hou Po (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex), Cang Er Zi (Xanthii Fructus), Jing Jie (Schizonepetae Spica).
Grind all ingredients into a fine powder. Mix two qian with Dou Lin Jiu (wine filtered through soybeans) for administration.
[Shi] For erysipelas with itching: Use chives mixed with a little salt and sesame oil. Rub between hands until warm, then wipe over the erysipelas lesion. It heals immediately. (From the Children's Diseases section.) Treatment for wind dan.
Shan Jia Gu (Manis Squama/Pangolin Scale) is washed to remove fishy odor, stir-fried on a tile until the internal structure remains (preserving efficacy). For every one liang of Shan Jia Gu, add three qian of Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix), grind into a powder, and take with rice water. Treats blood-wind nodular sores and malignant ulcers.
Fu Ping (Marpissae Herba): Take the natural juice and administer with Dou Lin Jiu (wine filtered through soybeans). Alternatively, administering it with wine infused with Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) is also effective.
[Dan] Use Yang Ti Cai Gen (Rumex japonicus root). Grind it with good vinegar on raw iron, scrape off the paste as needed, and apply to the affected area. If not healed, add a small amount of Liu Huang (Sulfur), grind, and apply.
