This is Pian Tou Feng (Hemicrania), which should be treated with reference to the methods for frontal headache.
[Dan] Pian Tou Feng is often caused by phlegm.
Pain on the left side is due to wind: Jingjie (Schizonepetae Spica), Bohe (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba). Pain on the left side is due to blood deficiency: Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix).
Pain on the right side is due to phlegm: Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Banxia (Pinelliae Tuber). Pain on the right side is due to heat: Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix).
[Luo] Chuanxiong San (Corydalis Decoction) treats hemicrania with miraculous efficacy.
Ganju (Chrysanthemi Flos), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Bai Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus, raw, each 6 qian).
Grind the above into an extremely fine powder. Take 3 qian per dose, mixed with clear tea water.
[Jie] Treats headache extending to eye pain.
Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Niubangzi (Arctii Fructus, stir-fried).
Grind the above into powder. Take before meals, mixed with clear tea water.

Cut the above ingredients. Take 3 qian per dose, decoct in water, and take warm after meals.
[Classic] An exquisite method for treating hemicrania. Grind Bibo (Piperis Longi Fructus) into a powder of 1 liang. Before meals, mix half a qian with thin rice gruel broth and ingest.
[Bencao] Treats wind-cold invading the head, causing intermittent pain that radiates to both eyes, potentially leading to blindness. Use Baifu San (White Aconite Powder).
Baifuzi (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Rhizoma, 1 liang), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, without joints), Chuanwu (Aconiti Radix Lateralis Preparata), Nanxing (Arisaematis Rhizoma, each 0.5 liang), Quanxie (Scorpio, 5 pieces), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, 1 fen), Zhusha (Cinnabar, 1 fen), Shexiang (Moschus, 1 fen).

Let the patient lie supine; instill into the left nostril for left pain, right nostril for right pain, or both if bilateral. Effective even for ten-year cases. Wang Jinggong suffered for twelve years; used this and recovered immediately. Several physicians later cured patients with it; this was a secret palace prescription.
