[Shi] For any scald or burn injury, immediately approach a fire source to roast the affected area. Although the pain is severe, if one can endure it for a moment, the pain will cease. Do not cover with cold objects or apply mud from the bottom of a well, as this prevents heat from dissipating and causes rotting to penetrate into the muscles.
[Danxi] For burns caused by fire, wash the injury with good wine, then apply salt on top. If the skin blisters and collapses, apply cowhide glue boiled in wine. For scalds caused by boiling water, apply the residue of second-time leached ash, which brings immediate relief. For injuries from hot wine, stir-fry glutinous rice flour until black, powder it, and mix with wine for topical application. To treat scalds or burns before ulcers form, burn the white roots of mugwort (Artemisia argyi) to ash, mix with egg yolk, and apply. If ulcers have formed, seal with white honey and paste bamboo membrane over them, three times daily.
