Those with strong constitutions may die. It is also said: If a person with robust Kidney Qi suffers from uncontrolled rage, it will injure the Zhi (Will/Spirit); injury to the Zhi leads to forgetfulness of previous words, inability to flex, extend, bend, or straighten the waist and spine, emaciated hair, and sallow complexion; such conditions often result in death during the late summer season.

[Yun] Tongqi San (Ventilation Powder): Treats lumbar pain during pregnancy that is unbearable; this medicine is miraculously effective.
Usage: Take an appropriate amount of Pao Gu Zhi (Burmese Dogwood Seed/Burkholdia solanifolia), stir-fry on a tile until fragrant, and grind into powder. Chew one walnut kernel, and take three qian of the powder with warm wine on an empty stomach.

Wujia Pi San (Acanthopanacis Cortex Powder): Treats unbearable lumbar pain during pregnancy, or pain in the hip region. (Take this powder first.)
Ingredients: Duzhong (Eucommiae Cortex, 4 liang, stir-fried), Wujia Pi (Acanthopanacis Cortex), Ejiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin, processed), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Gouji (Rhododendri Dahurici Caulis), Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Bi Xie (Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma) (each 3 liang), Xingren (Pruni Armeniaci Semen, 80 seeds, peeled, stir-fried with bran).
Preparation and Administration: Coarsely crush the herbs, decoct in 9 sheng of water to obtain 2 sheng of liquid, remove the dregs, dissolve the Ejiao in the hot liquid, and divide into three doses.

Wujia Pi Wan (Acanthopanacis Cortex Pill): Treats unbearable lumbar pain during pregnancy. (Take this pill subsequently.)
Ingredients: Xuduan (Dipsaci Radix, stir-fried), Duzhong (Eucommiae Cortex) (each 2.5 liang), Xiong (Chuanxiong Rhizome), Du Huo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix) (each 3 liang), Wujia Pi (Acanthopanacis Cortex), Gouji (Rhododendri Dahurici Caulis), Bi Xie (Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Hezi Rou (Terminalia Chebula Fruit Mesocarp) (each 4 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into fine powder, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of tung tree seeds. Take 40 pills with wine on an empty stomach, three times daily.

[Dan] Ren Liu Sao suffered from lumbar pain during pregnancy.
Ingredients: Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 4 qian), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 3 qian), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, stir-fried, 2.5 qian), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Tiao Qin (Scutellariae Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome), Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix), Gui Wei (Radix Angelicae Sinensis Cauda) (2 fen), Gancao (Licorice Root, lightly processed).
Preparation and Administration: Divide into four portions, decoct with water and wine, and take orally.

[Da] Zi Jiu (Purple Wine): Treats severe lumbar pain during pregnancy as if broken.
Usage: Take two tai of large black beans, stir-fry until fragrant, decoct in one large cup of wine to reduce to seven-tenths volume, remove the beans, and take all at once on an empty stomach.

[Ben] Treats lumbar pain caused by fetal movement that radiates to the heart, or accompanied by vaginal bleeding.
Usage: Take an appropriate amount of Cong Bai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus), decoct thickly to extract juice, and drink.

[Da] Treats recurrent and unremitting lumbar and back pain during pregnancy. Chan Bao (Treasures of Childbirth) treats sudden lumbar pain during pregnancy using Deer Antler (Lu Jiao) six cun long. Burn the antler until red-hot, quench in wine, burn again, and quench again, until the antler is fragmented. Drink the wine, and take Lu Jiao powder (one fang cun bi) orally.

[Zhouhou] Treats sudden lumbar pain with restlessness, or lumbar pain with fetal movement radiating to the heart and continuous vaginal bleeding.
Usage: Take Chang Pu Juice (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma Juice) with one sheng of wine. For sudden fetal restlessness during pregnancy, or only lumbar pain, or fetal movement radiating to the heart, or continuous vaginal bleeding, use Ai Ye (Artemisiae Argyi Folium) one bundle, roughly the size of a chicken egg, decoct in four sheng of wine to obtain two sheng, divide into two doses, which is effective.
