[Shi] Jieying San (Rapid Response Powder) treats foot dampness (invasion of damp pathogenic factors in the feet) leading to sores, with unbearable itching and yellow fluid oozing upon scratching.
Take dried dung of a castrated ram, dry it in the sun, grind it into powder, place it on a tile, burn it to ash using bamboo twigs held by hand, and grind it finely again. First wash the affected area with decoction of scallion and Sichuan pepper, then apply thick paste mixed with sesame oil onto the sore, cover with leaves of Camellia japonica, bind with silk cloth for four or five days until healed.
[Zhu Danxi] For chronic ulcerating sores on the feet that do not heal. First wash two or three times with water from sour tofu whey. Then gather leaves and stems of Rubus species (Xuanhou), and leaves of Potentilla freyniana (Dibaoniu), crush them into fine powder, add a small amount of salt.
Dibaoniu leaves are the leaves of Rubus chingii (Fupenzi).
[Hai Zang] For chronic heel sores where toxic heat attacks and penetrates. Use Atractylodis Rhizoma (Baizhu) ground into fine powder. First wash with warm saline solution, dry, and apply. Change every two days; one can bear weight and walk on difficult terrain.
[He Zi/Zhang Yuhe] The Classic says: Cold sores with flowing fluid are commonly known as chilblains. For those lasting years without healing, take clean soil from the wild, dry it, mix with garlic mashed into a paste, shape into cakes of thickness similar to Daguantongbao coins, and apply according to the size of the sore. Apply moxibustion on top of the cake, without limiting the number of cones, until the soil dries. Remove the dry cake, replace with a wet one, continue moxibustion until the scab feels painful or itchy, indicating the sore is treatable. Then rinse and soak with fermented grain water (Jiangshui), use twenty chicken feathers bound together as a brush to gently scrub the sore clean. This method prevents damage to the muscle tissue. Dry with soft cloth, then apply Muxiang Binglang San (Buckthorn and Areca Nut Powder). Treatment in summer is even better.
[Shi] Red and swollen chilblains on the heel: Heel (At the junction of red and white flesh behind the left toe surface, below the bone, puncture 0.3 cun, bleed using flicking needle technique, moxibustion 14 cones.)
For ulcerated chilblains on the heel. Wash with decoction of pepper and scallion, scrape off necrotic tissue, bleed using a three-edged needle. Mix Epimedium brevicornu (Mapibo) with raw bovine bone marrow and apply; effective.
Treating chilblains. Burn eggplant roots to ash, wash clean, then apply sparrow brain marrow.
[Yuxi] Take one male rat dead in the twelfth lunar month, fry in one sheng of oil until rotten, strain out the dregs, and boil down to make an ointment. Apply to chilblains and broken wounds.
[Zhu Danxi] Treating chilblains. Apply boiled tung oil and Lithargite (Miduoseng).
[Shan] Wash with decoction of Chinese gall (Wubeizi).
[Luo Qianfu] Rushen San (Miracle Powder) treats chilblains with skin erosion causing unbearable pain.
Take Rhubarb Radix et Rhizoma (Chuan Dahuang) in any quantity, grind into fine powder, mix with fresh well water, and sweep/apply onto the frostbitten broken skin; pain stops immediately with striking effect.
[Shi] Treating painful chilblains. Char olive pits until carbonized but retaining nature, grind into powder, mix with sesame oil and apply to the affected area; pain heals accordingly.
[Zhang Yuhe] Dai Ren's daughter's maid had chilblains on her feet. Dai Ren ordered her to take Zhouche Wan (Boat and Cart Pill) and Xunchuan San (River Clearing Powder) to induce severe purgation, after which she recovered. Some people doubted this. Dai Ren said: When Heart Fire descends, cold dissipates; what is there to doubt?
