[Worldly/Popular Prescription] Nasal polyps are caused by food accumulation in the stomach, with hot phlegm flowing and depositing there. Treating the root requires eliminating food accumulation.
Formula: Two qian of Buttermartite (Hudie Fan), one qian of Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin), five fen of Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into powder, wrap in cotton, and insert frequently into the nostril, changing often. Another method: Three fen of Hudie Fan, one fen of Guo Dan, one qian of Xixin, inserted into the nose as described. *San Yin Fang* uses only calcined alum (Kufan) powder mixed with facial grease, wrapped in cotton and inserted into the nose; after several days, the polyp and medicine will fall off together.
If using this nasal insertion therapy, taking internal medicines that resolve phlegm and accumulation—such as Arisaema Cum Bile (Xing), Pinelliae Rhizoma Preparatum (Banxia), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Cangzhu), Scutellariae Radix prepared with wine (Jiuqin), Coptidis Rhizoma (Lian), Medicated Leaven (Shenqu), Tamari Flos (Xinyi), Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin), Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi), and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao)—will enhance efficacy.

Cool, add one qian each of Borneolum Syntheticum (Longnao) and Moschus (Shexiang), form into pills, wrap in cotton, and insert into the nostril. The polyp will fall off within several days, leading to recovery. (This prescription has merit.)
[Luo's Prescription] Qing Huang San: Treats nasal polyps.

Seal in a porcelain container. For any patient, regardless of distance, at night while lying down, use a bamboo stick to apply a grain-of-rice-sized amount onto the nasal polyp. Apply once every other night. Visible results appear within half a month.
[Worldly/Popular Prescription] Nasal polyps with loss of smell. Equal parts Gourd Seed (Gua Di) and Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin) ground into fine powder. Wrap in cotton like a bean size and insert into the nostril; patency is achieved almost immediately.
