Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Pianqin (Scutellariae Radix processed with honey), Nanting (Pinelliae Tuberum cum Aloe et Bile), Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Xinyi (Magnoliae Flos), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma).
These herbs may be prepared as powder or pills, taken with warm water.
[Ben Cao] Treats nasal congestion with clear nasal discharge, caused by cold in the brain.
Tongcao (Tetrapanacis Medulla), Xinyi (Magnoliae Flos) (each half liang), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Gansui (Kansui Radix), Guixin (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Xiongyao (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) (each one liang).
Grind these into a fine powder, make pills with honey, wrap in cotton, and insert into the nostril. Seal tightly to prevent gas leakage. The pill should be slightly larger than a hemp seed. Slight pain indicates efficacy. Alternatively, make pills with crushed ginger for immediate cure.

In the theory of Five Movements and Six Qi, Bi Qiu (Rhinitis with clear discharge) has two types:
First, Fire attacking Lung Deficiency causing Bi Qiu. The Classics state: When Shaoyin governs the year, heat qi descends, and Lung qi ascends in response, leading to Bi Qiu, epistaxis, and nasal obstruction. It also states: When Shaoyin governs the year and heat is excessive, people suffer from Bi Qiu, epistaxis, sneezing, and vomiting. Furthermore: When Shaoyang governs the year and fire is excessive, severe cases present with Bi Qiu and epistaxis. Additionally: When Shaoyang qi returns, irritability, Bi Qiu, and sneezing occur. Also: When Shaoyin governs the year and external pathogenic factors prevail, Bi Qiu and sneezing appear. Moreover: When Metal qi of the year is insufficient, flame and fire prevail, causing people to suffer from Bi Qiu and sneezing. It is said that when Metal is insufficient, it is called "Cong Ge" (following transformation); in Cong Ge years, diseases include sneezing, cough, Bi Qiu, and epistaxis, treated with cold-natured medicines.
Second, Metal assisting Lung Excess causing Bi Qiu. The Classics state: Where Yangming qi arrives, Bi Qiu and sneezing occur, treated with warm-natured agents.
For acupuncture treatment of Bi Qiu, exclusively select the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian. The Classics state: The divergent channel of the Foot-Taiyang is named Feiyang (BL58), located seven cun above the ankle, diverging to connect with the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian. In excess patterns, it presents with Bi Qiu, nasal obstruction, headache, and back pain; treat at its divergent point.
[Jia Yi Jing] For Bi Qiu with difficult breathing, nasal obstruction, facial deviation, excessive discharge, Bi Qiu with epistaxis and carbuncles, Yingxiang (LI20) is the principal point. For Bi Qiu with inability to breathe, inability to control discharge, loss of smell, and uncontrolled epistaxis, Shuigou (GV26) is the principal point.
