The Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian is the meridian from which Qi originates. It contains twenty-two acupoints, starting with Guanchong (LI1/SJ1 - *Note: Standard numbering varies, here referred to by name*). The sequence proceeds through Yemen (TE2), Zhongzhu (TE3), and Yangchi (TE4). It then encounters Waiguan (TE5), Zhigou (TE6), and Huizong (TE7). Sanyangluo (TE8) enters Sibai (TE9), and the Qi flows into Tianjing (TE10) and Qinglengyuan (TE11). It continues through Xiaoluo (TE12), Naohui (TE13), and Jianliao (TE14). It passes Tiannou (TE16) [Note: Text mentions "Tian□ Tiannou", interpreted as Tiannou based on context and notes], Jing (connective term), Yifeng (TE17), Zhi Mai (TE18), Luxi (TE19), Jiaosun (TE20), Ermen (TE21), Heliao (TE22), and ascends to Sizhukong (TE23).
Guanchong (SJ1) is located at the lateral end of the ring finger. Yemen (TE2) is found in the depression between the heads of the fourth and fifth metacarpal bones; it is located by making a fist. Zhongzhu (TE3) is one cun superior to Yemen, in the depression. Yangchi (TE4) is located in the depression anterior to the wrist joint crease on the dorsal aspect. Waiguan (TE5) is two cun posterior to the dorsal wrist crease, in the depression between the radius and ulna. Zhigou (TE6) is one cun superior to Waiguan, in the depression between the bones. Huizong (TE7) is level with Waiguan, one cun lateral to it. Sanyangluo (TE8) is located one cun obliquely upward and medial from Huizong, on the large intersecting vessel of the arm. Sibai (TE9) is five cun superior to Sanyangluo, in the depression on the lateral aspect of the elbow. Tianjing (TE10) is located posterior to the lateral epicondyle of the humerus, one cun superior to the elbow tip, in the gap between the tendons when the elbow is flexed and the chest is arched. Qinglengyuan (TE11) is one cun superior to Tianjing, taken with the arm extended and raised. Xiaoluo (TE12) is located superior to Qinglengyuan, in the fleshy interval between the shoulder and the elbow on the lateral arm. Naohui (TE13) is three cun distal to the shoulder tip, in the hollow on the lateral aspect of the upper arm. Jianliao (TE14) is in the depression above the shoulder tip on the arm, taken with the arm obliquely raised. Tiannou (TE16) is one cun posterior to Jianjing (GB21) of the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian, directly superior to the supraclavicular fossa. Additionally, Tiannou is located superior to the previous point, lateral to the sternocleidomastoid muscle, posterior to Tianrong (SI17) of the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian, anterior to Tianzhu (BL10) of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian, inferior to Wanggu (GB12) of the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian, one cun obliquely posterior to the ear within the hairline. Yifeng (TE17) is in the depression at the posterior angle of the ear; pressing it causes pain radiating into the ear. Zhi Mai (TE18) is located in the blue collateral vessels in the middle of the posterior ear, resembling the feet of a chicken. Luxi (TE19) is located in the blue collateral vessels superior to Zhi Mai behind the ear. Jiaosun (TE20) is located superior to Luxi behind the ear, below the hairline where an opening exists when the mouth is open. Ermen (TE21) is located anterior to the ear, in the depression of the flesh corresponding to the ear notch. Heliao (TE22) is located anterior to the ear, in the transverse pulsating artery below the sideburns. To find Sizhukong (TE23), carefully observe the depression posterior to the eyebrow.
Notes:
[1] Guanchong (SJ1) is at the lateral end of the fourth finger, approximately the width of a leek leaf from the corner of the nail.
[2] Moving upward from Guanchong, Yemen (TE2) is in the depression between the metacarpal bones of the little and ring fingers; take this point with a clenched fist.
[3] One cun superior to Yemen, in the depression, is Zhongzhu (TE3).
[4] From Zhongzhu, moving straight up from the base of the fourth finger along the dorsal hand to the depression above the wrist is Yangchi (TE4).
[5] Two cun posterior to the wrist, in the depression between the two bones from Yangchi, is Waiguan (TE5).
[6] One cun superior to Waiguan, in the depression between the two bones, is Zhigou (TE6).
[7] One cun lateral to Zhigou is Huizong (TE7).
[8] Zhigou and Huizong are parallel, separated by one cun horizontally.
[9] Obliquely one cun upward and medial from Huizong, on the major intersecting vessel of the arm, is Sanyangluo (TE8).
[10] Five cun superior to Sanyangluo, in the lateral depression near the elbow, is Sibai (TE9).
[11] Obliquely upward and lateral from Sibai, posterior to the lateral epicondyle of the humerus, one cun superior to the elbow tip, in the gap between the crossed tendons, taken with flexed elbow and arched chest, is Tianjing (TE10).
[12] One cun superior to Tianjing, taken with extended and raised arm, is Qinglengyuan (TE11).
[13] Superior to Qinglengyuan, in the muscular interval between the shoulder and elbow on the lateral arm, is Xiaoluo (TE12).
[14] Superior to Xiaoluo, three cun from the shoulder tip, in the hollow on the lateral arm, is Naohui (TE13).
[15] Superior to Naohui, in the depression above the shoulder tip on the arm, taken with obliquely raised arm, is Jianliao (TE14).
[16] Moving upward from Jianliao to the shoulder, directly above the supraclavicular fossa, is Jianjing (GB21) of the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian; one cun posterior to this is Tiannou (TE16).
[17] Moving upward from Tiannou, lateral to the large tendon of the neck, above the supraclavicular fossa, posterior to Tianrong (SI17) of the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian, anterior to Tianzhu (BL10) of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian, inferior to Wanggu (GB12) of the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian, one cun obliquely posterior to the ear within the hairline, is Tiannou (TE16).
[18] Moving upward from Tiannou, in the depression at the posterior angle of the ear, where pressure causes pain in the ear, is Yifeng (TE17).
[19] Moving upward from Yifeng, in the blue collateral vessels in the middle of the posterior ear, resembling chicken feet, is Zhi Mai (TE18).
[20] Moving upward from Zhi Mai, in the blue collateral vessels posterior and superior to the ear, is Luxi (TE19).
[21] Moving upward from Luxi, posterior and superior to the ear, below the hairline where there is an opening when the mouth is open, is Jiaosun (TE20).
[22] Circling forward from Jiaosun to the anterior of the ear, in the depression of the raised flesh corresponding to the ear notch, is Ermen (TE21).
[23] Moving forward from Ermen to the anterior of the ear, in the transverse arterial pulse below the sideburns (sideburns refer to the temporal hairline), is Heliao (TE22).
[24] Moving upward from Heliao to the depression posterior to the eyebrow is Sizhukong (TE23) (see Figure 67).
