[Upper Compilation External Treatment Methods - Limbs Section]
Attributes: [1] The femur, also known as the bit bone. Its upper end is shaped like a pestle and fits into the acetabulum of the hip joint (bit shu); its lower end is shaped like a hammer and connects to the tibia (character missing in original text, inferred as tibia or lower limb bones based on anatomy and context). Collectively referred to as "gu" (thigh), this is the general term for the two large limbs of the lower body, commonly known as the thigh bone.
[2] If fracture and tendon swelling result from falling from a horse or twisting injury, with the affected area appearing dark purple and feeling cold, and white blisters forming externally, this indicates that bone fragmentation has led to the leakage of Qi. Such conditions are rarely curable.
[3] For young individuals with sufficient Qi and Blood, although there is physical swelling and pain, if consciousness remains clear without drowsiness and no white blisters appear, the condition is treatable.
<1> The treatment method involves massaging the fractured bones with both hands and manipulating them back into position. Then, press the injured area with fingers. For bones that have not dislocated, wrap them with bamboo splints.
<2> Administer Zhenggu Zijin Dan (Bone-Setting Purple Gold Pill) orally every morning. After three days, remove the splints to inspect. If any irregularities remain, massage the tendon knots until they are smooth and flat, apply Wanling Gao (Ten Thousand Spirits Plaster), and re-wrap with bamboo splints.

Attributes: [1] The bones of the five fingers are called chui bones, which refers to the proximal phalanges (ben jie) of each finger.
[2] If injured by blunt force causing fractures, the injuries to all five fingers are similar, leading to interconnected swelling and pain because their tendons are connected.
[3] Although the dorsal and palmar surfaces of the hand appear as a unified external structure, the internal bones are formed by the connection of the proximal phalanges of each finger.
[4] If both the back and palm of the hand become hard, swollen, hot, and painful, the bone joints must be realigned to prevent future complications.
[5] If not treated promptly, the stagnant blood will eventually transform into pus.
[6] Individuals with robust constitution (excess Qi) can be cured by administering anti-toxic herbal formulas; those with deficient constitution (deficient Qi) may develop fistulas later.
Wash the area with Sanyu He Shang Tang (Blood-Breaking and Injury-Healing Decoction) and apply Wanling Gao (Ten Thousand Spirits Plaster).
