[Song of Heart Goodness] The spirit is refreshed, speech is clear, the tongue is moist and fresh in color; there is no restlessness, irritability, or thirst, and both waking and sleeping are peaceful.
[Song of Liver Goodness] The body is light and agile, free from anger and fright; the fingernails are ruddy and lustrous, urination is harmonious, and defecation is unobstructed.
[Song of Spleen Goodness] The lips are moist, taste is perceived and appetite increases; the pus is yellow and thick without foul odor, and stool is neither dry nor loose.
[Song of Lung Goodness] The voice is resonant, there is no panting or cough with sputum; the skin is smooth and lustrous, and breathing is calm and steady.
[Song of Kidney Goodness] There is no afternoon fever, the mouth is harmonious and teeth are not dry; urine is clear and white, and night sleep is as quiet as a mountain.
[Note] "Wu Mei" (寤寐) refers to waking and sleeping. "Bu Nu Bu Jing" (不怒不惊) refers to not being angry or frightened by oneself. "Sou" (溲) refers to urination. "Bian" (便) refers to defecation. "Bu Wu Re" (不午热) refers to no fever in the afternoon.
[Song of First Evil (Heart)] Mental confusion and dullness, heart vexation, dry tongue, sores are mostly purple-black, muttering incoherently.
[Song of Second Evil (Liver)] Stiffness of tendons and sinews, difficulty in keeping eyes open and looking straight, sores weep blood and water, palpitations indicate liver injury.
[Song of Third Evil (Spleen)] Emaciation of form, sores are sunken and hard, pus is thin and foul-smelling, inability to eat indicates spleen failure and difficulty in treatment.
[Song of Fourth Evil (Lung)** Dry and withered skin, excessive phlegm and hoarse voice, onset of panting with flaring nostrils, lung exhaustion inevitably leads to death.
[Song of Fifth Evil (Kidney)] Frequent desire to drink, throat feels like burning smoke, kidney loss presents with a grim and black complexion, retraction of the scrotum is the origin of death.
[Song of Sixth Evil (Zang-Fu/Large Intestine)] Generalized edema, borborygmus, frequent vomiting and hiccups, frequent slippery diarrhea of the large intestine, this is the beginning of zang-fu deterioration.

[Note] "Ni Nan" (呢喃) means incoherent speech. "Jing Ji" (惊悸) means palpitations with fright. "Xiao Shou" (消瘦) means emaciation of muscles. "Pi Fu Gao" (皮肤槁) means dry and withered skin. "Yun Bu Yuan" (韵不圆) means voice is not resonant. "Bi Shan Dong" (鼻扇动) means flaring of nostrils. "Yan Hou Ruo Liao Yan" (咽喉若燎烟) means dry, hot, choking pain in the throat. [Song of Favorable Prognosis] At the initial stage, the swelling grows gradually from small to large, aversion to cold and high fever gradually intensify with burning pain. Abundant Qi causes the apex to swell high; abundant Blood causes the base to be confined and red. For Yang syndromes, pus matures and ulcerates after fourteen days; for Yin syndromes, pus forms only after twenty-one days. After ulceration, if there is normal odor but no foul stench, necrotic tissue falls off easily, new flesh grows easily, and appetite increases. Although the sore may be large, it ultimately causes no harm; success is achieved regardless of age or strength.
[Note] At the initial stage of carbuncles and ulcers, they grow from small to large, gradually presenting with aversion to cold, high fever, and burning redness/pain. "Abundant Qi" refers to the apex swelling high; "Abundant Blood" refers to the base being confined and red; this is a favorable prognosis. For Yang syndromes, pus matures in fourteen days because Yang nature is rapid; for Yin syndromes, pus forms only after twenty-one days because Yin nature is slow. After ulceration, if the pus has a normal odor (referred to colloquially as "Ha La" smell) and no foul stench, necrotic tissue will easily slough off and new flesh will easily regenerate. Appetite naturally increases; although the sore may be large, it ultimately causes no harm. "Yan Qi" (腌气) refers to the colloquial "Ha La" smell.
