The Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian has eleven acupoints: Zhongfu (Zhōngfǔ, Middle Palace), Yunmen (Yúnmén, Cloud Gate), and Tianfu (Tiānfǔ, Heavenly Granary) are listed first; next are Xiabai (Xiábái, Below White) and Chize (Chǐzé, Cubital Crescent); further down are Kongzui (Kǒngzuì, Deep Hollow) and Lieque (Lièquē, Broken Sequence); then Jingqu (Jīngqú, Channel Spring) and Taiyuan (Tàiyuán, Great Abyss); descending to Yuji (Yújì, Fish Border); finally reaching Shaoshang (Shàoshāng, Lesser Shang) at the tip of the finger, sized like a leek leaf.
Text:
Zhongfu of the Taiyin is located in the third intercostal space; ascending to Yunmen is approximately one cun and six fen. Yunmen is six cun lateral to the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) point Shanzhong (Dànzhōng, Chest Center), situated in the depression between the two bones below Jugu (Jùgǔ, Giant Bone) of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian.
Tianfu is sought at the arterial pulse three cun below the axilla; Xiabai governs at five cun above the elbow; Chize is at the center of the cubital crease; Kongzui is estimated at seven cun above the wrist crease;
Lieque is one cun and half above the wrist crease; Jingqu is taken from the depression at the Cun Kou (Cùn Kǒu, Inch Port) pulse; Taiyuan is at the head of the transverse crease posterior to the palm; Yuji is within the scattered vessels behind the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb;
Shaoshang is on the medial side of the thumb tip; needling this point stops epistaxis (nosebleed) immediately.
Note: [1] Zhongfu is lateral to Huagai (Huágài, Imperial Canopy) of the Ren Mai by six cun, in the depression of the third intercostal space above the breast, where the arterial pulse is palpable; it is obtained with the patient supine.
[2] Ascending vertically one cun and six fen from Huagai, in the depression below Jugu of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian, where the arterial pulse is palpable,
raising the arm reveals the Yunmen point.
[3] Descending from Yunmen along the medial aspect of the upper arm, in the arterial depression three cun below the axilla, marked by touching the nose tip with ink,
this is the Tianfu point.
[4] Descending from Tianfu towards the elbow, in the artery five cun above the cubital crease, is the Xiabai point.
[5] Descending from Xiabai towards the elbow, in the gap between bone and tendon when flexing the elbow, five cun above the crease, where the arterial pulse is palpable, is the Chize point.
[6] Descending from Chize to the anterior wrist, seven cun above the wrist crease, in the depression between the proximal and distal carpal bones, is the Kongzui point.
[7] From Kongzui, moving laterally to the posterior wrist, one cun and five fen superiorly, with hands crossed,
in the gap between bone and tendon at the terminal phalanx of the index finger, is the Lieque point.
[8] Following Lieque to the depression at the Cun Kou pulse, is the Jingqu point.
[9] From Jingqu, moving medially to the depression posterior to the palm, is the Taiyuan point.
[10] Ascending from Taiyuan to the Thenar eminency (Yu Ji), in the depression medial to the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb, within the scattered vessels at the junction of white skin, is the Yuji point.
[11] Following Yuji to the medial tip of the thumb, at the junction of white skin approximately the width of a leek leaf from the nail corner, is the Shaoshang point
(Figure 40).
