The center of the sole is Yongquan (KI-1, Gushing Spring). Ran Gu (KI-2, Valley Below the Bulge) is located one cun anterior to the medial malleolus. Tai Xi (KI-3, Great Stream) is posterior to the ankle on the calcaneus. Da Zhong (KI-4, Great Bell) is at the posterior heel, on the edge of the calcaneal tuberosity.
Shui Quan (KI-5, Water Spring) is sought one cun below Tai Xi. Zhao Hai (KI-6, Illuminated Sea) is truly located four fen below the medial malleolus. Fu Liu (KI-7, Returning Flow) is two cun posterior and superior to the ankle. Jiao Xin (KI-8, Connecting Signal) connects two cun posterior and superior to Fu Liu.
These two acupoints are separated only by the anterior and posterior positions of a tendon, located posterior to the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Channel and anterior to the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Channel.
(Fu Liu is adjacent to the bone anteriorly, Jiao Xin is adjacent to the bone posteriorly; the two points are separated only by one tendon.)
Zhu Bin (KI-9, Building Guest) is located [missing character] fen above the medial malleolus. Yin Gu (KI-10, Yin Valley) is between the knee and below, in the depression when the knee is flexed. Heng Gu (KI-11, Horizontal Bone), Da He (KI-12, Great赫/Abundant), and Qi Xue (KI-13, Qi Gate), as well as Si Man (KI-14, Four Fullnesses) and Zhong Zhu (KI-15, Central Note), are connected.
These five acupoints ascend with an interval of one cun each, located on the side opening five fen from the midline. Huang Shu (KI-16, Conception Vessel Hub) also ascends with an interval of one cun, but is located half a cun lateral to the umbilicus.
Shang Qu (KI-17, Upper Curve), Shi Guan (KI-18, Stone Gate), and Yin Du (KI-19, Yin Capital); Tong Gu (KI-20, Common Valley) and You Men (KI-21,幽门/Pylorus) are five connected acupoints. These five points are taken with a vertical interval of one cun, each opening five fen anterior to the midline.
Bu Lang (KI-22, Step Corridor), Shen Feng (KI-23, Spirit Enclosure), and Ling Xu (KI-24, Spiritual Void); Shen Cang (KI-25, Spirit Storehouse), Yu Zhong (KI-26, Or Middle), and Yu Fu (KI-27, Jade Mansion) are situated here. Ascending one cun six fen laterally two cuns, observe Yu Fu and Xuan Ji separated by two cuns.
Notes:
[1] Yongquan (KI-1) is located in the depression of the center of the sole. Extend the leg, flex the foot, and curl the toes; the wanwan (winding/depressed) center is the acupoint.
[2] From Yongquan, move up along the medial aspect of the foot to the medial malleolus. Starting from the depression below the large bone, this is Ran Gu (KI-2).
[3] From Ran Gu, move five fen posteriorly along the medial aspect of the foot. In the depression of the pulsating artery on the calcaneus, this is Tai Xi (KI-3).
[4] From Tai Xi, move to the posterior heel. Between the two tendons on the large bone of the heel, this is Da Zhong (KI-4).
[5] From Da Zhong, move one cun down from Tai Xi, below the medial malleolus. This is Shui Quan (KI-5).
[6] From Shui Quan, move four fen below the medial malleolus. In the depression among the tendons anterior and posterior, the malleolar bone superiorly, and the cartilaginous bone inferiorly, this is Zhao Hai (KI-6).
[7] From Zhao Hai, move posterior to the medial malleolus. Excluding approximately two cun above the malleolus, in the depression adjacent to the bone anteriorly, this is Fu Liu (KI-7).
[8] From Fu Liu, slant outward and ascend approximately two cun posterior to the Fu Liu point, adjacent to the tendon posteriorly. This is Jiao Xin (KI-8).
[9] From Jiao Xin, slant outward and ascend past the Sanyinjiao (SP-6) point. In the middle of [missing character] fen, this is Zhu Bin (KI-9).
The missing character refers to the "calf" (gastrocnemius) in common parlance.
[10] From Zhu Bin, ascend to the posterior aspect of the medial epicondyle of the tibia below the knee. On the greater and lesser tendons, where pressure yields a response, obtain it by flexing the knee. This is Yin Gu (KI-10).
[11] From Yin Gu, ascend into the abdomen. In the center of the Heng Gu (KI-11), curved like the center of an inverted moon,
located five fen lateral to the midline of the Ren Meridian (Conception Vessel), is the Heng Gu acupoint.
[12] Ascend one cun from Heng Gu. This is Da He (KI-12), also located five fen lateral to the midline.
[13] Ascend one cun from Da He. This is Qi Xue (KI-13), also located five fen lateral to the midline.
[14] Ascend one cun from Qi Xue. This is Si Man (KI-14), also located five fen lateral to the midline.
[15] Ascend one cun from Si Man. This is Zhong Zhu (KI-15), also located five fen lateral to the midline.
[16] Ascend one cun from Zhong Zhu. This is Huang Shu (KI-16), directly lateral to the umbilicus, five fen from the umbilical center.
[17] Ascend two cun from Huang Shu. This is Shang Qu (KI-17), also located five fen lateral to the midline.
[18] Ascend one cun from Shang Qu. This is Shi Guan (KI-18), also located five fen lateral to the midline.
[19] Ascend one cun from Shi Guan. This is Yin Du (KI-19), also located five fen lateral to the midline.
[20] Ascend one cun from Yin Du to the depression. This is Tong Gu (KI-20), also located five fen lateral to the midline.
[21] Ascend one cun from Tong Gu to the depression. This is You Men (KI-21), also located five fen lateral to the midline.
[22] Ascend one cun six fen from You Men to the depression. Located two cuns lateral to the midline, take it in a supine position. This is Bu Lang (KI-22).
[23] Ascend one cun six fen from Bu Lang. Also located two cuns lateral to the midline, take it in a supine position. This is Shen Feng (KI-23).
[24] Ascend one cun six fen from Shen Feng. Also located in the depression two cuns lateral to the midline, take it in a supine position.
This is Ling Xu (KI-24).
[25] Ascend one cun six fen from Ling Xu. Also located in the depression two cuns lateral to the midline, take it in a supine position.
This is Shen Cang (KI-25).
[26] Ascend one cun six fen from Shen Cang. Also located in the depression two cuns lateral to the midline, take it in a supine position.
This is Yu Zhong (KI-26).
[27] Ascend from Yu Zhong to Ju Gu. Below, flanking the Ren Meridian's Xuan Ji (CV-21), in the depression two cuns lateral to the midline, take it in a supine position.
This is the acupoint (see Figure 64).
