The Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian originates below the little toe, slants towards the Yongquan (Springing Spring) acupoint in the center of the foot, emerges below the Ran Gu (Ridge Valley) acupoint,
follows the posterior aspect of the medial malleolus, branches into the heel, ascends along the medial aspect of the calf emerging from the medial margin of the popliteal fossa, continues up the posterior medial aspect of the thigh, penetrates the spine, belongs to the Kidney organ, and connects with the Bladder organ;
its straight branch ascends from the Kidney, passes through the Liver and diaphragm, enters the Lung, follows the throat, and flanks the root of the tongue;
its branch emerges from the Lung, connects with the Heart, and pours into the chest (see Figure 63).
**Article:**
The Foot-Kidney meridian belongs to the Shaoyin channel, slanting from the little toe towards the Yongquan acupoint,
passing below the Ran Gu acupoint and behind the medial malleolus, branching into the heel and penetrating deeply,
emerging from the medial margin of the popliteal fossa and ascending along the medial thigh, penetrating the spine, belonging to the Kidney and approaching the Bladder;
the straight branch belongs to the Kidney, passes through the Liver and diaphragm, enters the Lung, follows the throat to seek the root of the tongue,
the branch emerges from the Lung to connect within the Heart, still reaching deep into the chest region.
Note: [1] The Foot-Shaoyin Kidney meridian originates from the Zhiyin acupoint below the little toe of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder meridian, slants towards the Yongquan acupoint in the center of the foot,
emerges below the Ran Gu acupoint, follows the Taixi acupoint behind the medial malleolus, branches from Taixi into the Dazhong acupoint in the heel,
travels from Dazhong through the Shuiquan, Zhaohai, Fuliu, and Jiaoxin acupoints, and ascends to the Zubin acupoint inside the calf.
[2] From Zubin, it emerges at the Yin Gu acupoint at the medial margin of the popliteal fossa, ascends from Yin Gu along the posterior medial aspect of the thigh to the Henggu acupoint,
and from Henggu penetrates inward to traverse the spine, belongs to the Kidney, and connects with the Bladder.
[3] Its straight branch, from the Kidney, externally traverses the Dahu, Qi Xue, Siman, Zhongzhu, Huangshu, Shangqu, Shiguan,
Yindu, Tonggu, and other acupoints, internally penetrates the Liver and diaphragm, externally follows the Youmen, Kaigu (likely referring to a sequence including Yuzhong), Bulang, Shenfeng, Lingxu (original text Linglu, synonymous with Lingxu),
Shencang, Yuzhong, and Yufu acupoints, enters the Lung, follows the throat, and terminates by flanking the root of the tongue.
[4] Its branch emerges from the Lung, connects with the Heart, and pours into the chest, thereby intersecting with the Hand-Jueyin Pericardium meridian.
