6. Abdominal pain during pregnancy is named "Bao Zu" (abdominal pain during pregnancy caused by disharmony of the Chong and Ren meridians). One must carefully examine whether the pain is located in the epigastric/abdominal region or the hypogastric region. Pain in the heart, stomach, waist, and abdomen often belongs to pain caused by food stagnation; pain in the hypogastric region is necessarily due to cold invading the uterus (Bao) or water retention causing difficult urination.

7. Pain in the heart and stomach is mostly due to food stagnation; Ping Wei San (Calm the Stomach Powder) consisting of Chen Pi (Tangerine Peel), Hou Po (Magnolia Bark), Cang Zhu (Atractylodes Rhizome), and Gan Cao (Licorice Root) is suitable. Add Cao Guo (Tsaoko Fruit), Zhi Qiao (Immature Bitter Orange), and Shen Qu (Medicated Leaven) to resolve it. If accompanied by severe constipation, add Xiao Shi (Niter) and Da Huang (Rhubarb) to purge, but double the dose of Gan Cao (Licorice Root) to moderate its harsh nature so as not to harm the fetus. If there is abdominal pain with threatened miscarriage, Yan Hu Suo (Corydalis Rhizome) combined with Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) is appropriate.

8. Severe pain in the abdomen and waist requires vigilance against miscarriage. Jiao Ai Si Wu Tang (Collage and Mugwort Four Substances Decoction) should be used, adding Du Zhong (Eucommia Bark), Da Dou (Soybean), wine, and Cong Bai (Scallion White) to alleviate pain and secure the fetus. If caused by external wind-cold pathogens, add Qiang Huo (Notopterygium Rhizome) and Du Huo (Angelica Pubescens Root) to disperse them; if internal heat is severe with constipation, use Mi (Honey) and Mang Xiao (Mirabilite) decocted in water to purge. As stated in the classics: "When there is a pathogen, the pathogen bears the brunt," meaning the treatment will not harm the fetus.

9. Cold invading the blood of the uterus causes hypogastric pain; Jia Wei Xiong Gui Yin (Modified Ligusticum and Angelica Decoction) should be used to warm it. This formula consists of Ren Shen (Ginseng Root), Wu Zhu Yu (Evodia Fruit), E Jiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin), Qi Ai (Mugwort Leaf), Zhi Gan Cao (Prepared Licorice Root), Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis Root), and Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum Rhizome). If pain arises from dysuria, it indicates bladder water disease with severe heat; Dao Chi San (Direct Out the Red Powder) should be used to clear and drain damp-heat. This formula consists of Sheng Di Huang (Rehmannia Root), Mu Tong (Akebia Stem), and Gan Cao (Licorice Root). If water abundance with yang deficiency fails to transform, Wu Ling San (Five-Ingredient Powder with Poria) is effective. This formula consists of Bai Zhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome), Ze Xie (Alisma Rhizome), Rou Gui (Cinnamon Bark), Fu Ling (Poria), and Zhu Ling (Polyporus).
