Limbs Region
[1] The patella (kneecap), also known as Lianhai or Bin Gu, is round and flat in shape. It covers the ends of the Jian bone (lower end of the femur) and the □ bone (upper end of the tibia). On its inner surface, tendons are connected and attached; these tendons pass upward over the thigh to reach both hypochondriac regions, and downward over the □ bone to reach the dorsum of the foot.
[2] If there is trauma from falling or striking causing the patella to displace upward, the associated tendons will become swollen and involve the tendons within the popliteal fossa. The tendons in the popliteal fossa connect upward to the waist and hips; therefore, symptoms such as pain upon bending the waist often occur.
[3] Alternatively, if the patella displaces downward causing the □ bone to become red, swollen, hot, and painful, or if the calf and abdomen become cold and stiff, resulting in dragging steps and a limping gait.
[4] If the patella is dislocated laterally outward, the medial tendons will swell; if dislocated medially inward, the tendons will become tense and the popliteal fossa will swell.
[5] One should carefully observe how the bones are tilted and misaligned, apply manual manipulation techniques to restore their position. Internally administer Bu Jin Wan (Tendon-Nourishing Pill), externally apply Ding Tong San (Pain-Relieving Powder) for moxibustion and heat compression, and fumigate with Ba Xian Xiao Yao Tang (Eight Immortals Free-and-Easy Decoction) until cured.

Chest and Back Region
[1] The Bi Xin Gu (Heart-Shielding Bone), also known as Ji Wei Gu, is composed of cartilaginous tissue located between the lower chest's Qigu (xiphoid process).
[2] In cases of injury caused by falling, striking, or jolting, characterized by unceasing pain, qi stagnation窜动 (rushing sensation) in both hypochondriac regions, full abdominal pain, inability to straighten the back due to kyphosis, and patients pressing their hands against the chest, it is appropriate to internally administer Ba Li San (Eight-Centigram Powder), externally wash with Ai Cu Tang (Mugwort and Vinegar Decoction), apply Wan Ling Gao (Ten Thousand Spirits Plaster), drink light yellow wine when thirsty, and avoid tea, raw/cold foods, and bran-rice porridge.
