[Prescription Verse] The "Stinky River Snail" sore (Chou Tianluo Chuang) is most lingering and difficult to cure; itching in the interdigital spaces accompanied by white patches occurs. After rubbing until the skin breaks and foul-smelling fluid oozes out, treatment should employ clearing heat and draining dampness for recovery.
[Annotation] This condition arises from damp-heat pouring downward from the Stomach Meridian. Although the lesions in the interdigital spaces appear minor, the itching is severe and cannot be relieved by rubbing; it only ceases when the skin is rubbed until broken, causing stinging pain from the exudation of foul-smelling fluids. The itching recurs the next day, persisting for years without healing, making it extremely lingering. The method involves washing with a decoction of Licorice Root (Gancao) and Coix Seed (Yiyiren); applying chewed tea leaves to the area; and moistening with Coptis Ointment (Huanglian Gao) if dry. For severe ulcerations, Goose Palm Skin (E Zhang Pi), calcined over fire until carbonized but retaining its nature, is ground into powder and mixed with sesame oil for topical application, which is highly effective.
Formula: Coptis Ointment (Huanglian Gao) (See Nasal Ulcer section).
[Prescription Verse] Niu Cheng Cun (Niu Cheng Kuan/Foot Deformity due to Walking) results from hurried walking; when hot feet contact cold water or are attacked by cold wind, qi stagnation and blood coagulation form hard ridges. The method involves using pigeon droppings with boiling water to soften and disperse the lesion.
[Annotation] This condition arises within the skin of the heel and sole, presenting as stubborn, hard swelling with high, yellowish nodules, causing pain that prevents walking. It is caused by hot feet contacting cold water or cold wind attacking the blood vessels, leading to qi stagnation and blood coagulation. The method involves placing a new brick in a basin, putting pigeon droppings on the brick, and covering it with a bamboo sieve. The patient steps on the sieve, and boiling water is poured in from the side to steam and soak the foot, dispersing the hardness; replace the water when it cools. Alternatively, heat a new brick red-hot, splash it with leek juice, and step on it for thermal therapy. Early treatment may resolve the lump; if prolonged, it will rupture with continuous pus discharge. Wash daily with rice wash water (Migan Shui), apply Horn Powder (Niujiao San), trim the raised dead skin around the periphery, then switch to applying Muscle-Nourishing Jade Red Ointment (Shengji Yuhong Gao) and Moon-White Pearl Powder (Yuebai Zhenzhu San) to promote tissue regeneration and wound closure, leading to spontaneous healing.
Formula: Horn Powder (Niujiao San)
Composition: Pine Resin (Songxiang), Calomel (Qingfen), Water Dragon Bone (Shuili Long, i.e., oil-paste from old ship bottoms), Horn Tip (Niujiao Jian, calcined to ash).
Grind all into powder, mix with Ox Marrow (Niu Suisui) for topical application.
[Prescription Verse] Horn Powder (Niujiao San) treats Niu Cheng Cun (Niu Cheng Kuan/Foot Deformity due to Walking), specifically for chronic non-healing cases with flowing pus; use Pine Resin (Songxiang), Calomel (Qingfen), Water Dragon Bone (Shuili Long), and calcined Horn Tip (Niujiao Jiaohui).
Another Prescription: Muscle-Nourishing Jade Red Ointment (Shengji Yuhong Gao) and Moon-White Pearl Powder (Yuebai Zhenzhu San) (Both found in the Ulcer Section).
